We have been going there heaps the past few seasons. Even the odd winter sesh.
Usually Miller, Leech and I go and sometimes Juice and Gazza will pull themselves away from Scabs.
I wasnt there today as I had an RDO and committed to work around the house and family.
I reckon it has a better approach to the waves than Scabs. Alot flatter and less choppy. The waves are not as big as Scabs but on a good swell it gets real fun. Your still able to get a couple of bottom turns in.
Juice and Miller have a BIG story to tell about Mullaz. The mast high wave that came from no where

The mast high wave that came from no where

That was probably the result of one of my half backed attempts at a gybe today.
And yep think a move may be warranted, as had to contend with downed kits a bit today and its a tad painful at times. They are learning just like me I suppose, but f.... they take up some room

Still cleaning the sand out of my undies.... maybe I should change them!

Big messy washing machine, head high dumpers/closeouts.

I really enjoyed the excitement of pulling the mast off the bottom to see whether this was the wave that had broken it.

Somehow I got lucky and came away unscathed.

Greenroom, I think your review is a bit overrated. It's usually mushy knee high waves. On a big swell the waves just dump on the sand bank. All, feel free to come down - it's a public beach and there's plenty of space - but don't expect too much.

Cobbler is a fish something like a catfish. Nasty little barbed spines that have a poison that enters any area it sticks into Nasty bloody painful encounter.
Fortunately for me it just hit the side of my little toe. I was just stepping onto board in shallows when it happened. Spent the night with it wrapped in a heat pack, hoping like heck it would eventually go away (pain that is)
Couldn’t face the drama of sitting at Joondalup emergency for hours on end. Hit on toe wasn’t a full blooded hit and its now down to a dull throb, thank goodness.

Windy, I thought of you when I was packing up at end of session hobbling around on 1 and 1/2 legs

In actual fact you probably have Cobbler fish in SA. They are found in estuarine waters from NSW down around to WA but are more renowned or prevalent in WA. I picked up a sting on the top of my foot from a jeuvenile cobbler fish in Lake Connewarre. They hide in clumps of weed and I dragged my foot through the weed when waterstarting. I thought that I had ripped my foot apart on a piece of barbed wire or something. My foot swelled up so that I couldn't fit the footstraps. And felt like it had molten metal poured onto it. No sympathy on return home as not a mark was visible.
If you find one you will know.

Perhaps Clobber fish is a WA name? I have never heard of such a fish in NSW. Sounds really nasty and I am glad I did not meet one when I holidayed at Lancelin.

Sorry to have to redirect this thread back to Mullaloo - if ya wanna see Cobbler ask for it with chips.
I used to sail in front of the Mullaloo pub (when it was a sh#thole). Rigging on the grass and using the shower was great plus the walkby talent was topshelf then the clubbies got a bit annoyed with us (mostly on w/ends) so we moved to North Mullas where there is woodchips to rig on, bogans doing burnnouts in the carpark and teenagers learning the art of car theft. I also concur that the observations are a bit overstated but it does seem windier past Hillaries so that is a plus. String weed was annoying up there though.

I went to Mullaloo last night Rigged on the grass near club house sailed downwind along the coast looking for a good sandbank Sailed with Miller and Leech. Then 3 tacks upwind back to the club house.
It was head high in the sets a bit dumpy on the bigger waves wind was stronger than at Metts/ Scarborough but it was a bit onshore. Needs a 3m swell to be any wave fun.

Greenroom I have never pulled myself away at Scarborough, but I have seen Mr No-one grinning as he has come out of the sand dunes and I think Gazza prefers going to Swanborne.
