woody46, Am up here at the moment. Not a surfer, kiter, windsurfer in sight. Not much breeze to boot, however stingers, crocs, and all sorts keep the locals out of the water this time of the year.
Family members, who have lived here for some time, just don’t go in, and only water sport is fishing from a good quality boat.

Woody46, checked some locals, there is the Darwin dam about an 1.5 hours from Darwin. They do try to keep the salt crocs out by trapping. But how affective, nobody can tell me, if anybody actually windsurfs or kites on it. They do water ski and jet ski on it however.
Best of luck.

yeah, northern australia has an eerie fishy, sharky, croccy, kind of feel to it when you stand next to the waters edge.

Woody, sounds like you might be in the ADF.

Ask for Perth, Sgoodhere.

Woody i saw two windsurfers out at cullen bay during one of my many visits to darwin last year.Good sea breeze during the dry season.
I don't think i would go out though, during one night watch on my ship i saw three crocs swimming around in the harbour and they try to trap them and keep them out of there

i spent 20 years living in the nt saw plenty of big reasons to stay out of the water while out fishing . there used to be a hardy crew of windsurfers i used to see sailing off casuarina beach in the dry season [also known as the windy season] i windsurfed for a while off a small island in arhnem land with a mate , mostly we would sail out from the beach turn around and sail back in and sit on the beach and check for handbags lurking around before going for another run. definatly rates as an extreme sport in the nt good luck
