Hi Pat e,
Sorry to hear of your dilemma. I seem to remember another post not too long ago where someones van was also cleaned out of windsurfing gear, and I believe that they said it was at the YMCA, which is only a short distance around the corner from the Royal Perth Hospital - if so there is a serial windsurfing gear thief - if the same one!!
Have you reported to police - as they may send fax to pawn shops within Perth re. latest stolen gear. Hope you track the b......'s down!

Thanks Gazza,

yeah reported to police, you never know something may come up. On verge of forking out for new gear . What insurance can you get for gear? Doesnt seem household will cover ? Any recommendations?

I've got windsurfing equipment cover with GIO. They are one of the only insurance companies I found that offer it. Mostly you just get silence when you tell them that you want to insure $000 of equipment! It's covered in the car, on the roof and in the back garden as well. Not covered when competing tho...

you just have to look at the kind of people that hang around that part of the city and say to yourself "there is no way in hell im leaving my gear in the car for these pricks to steal it"

The insurance is separate to the home and contents but all in 1 bill. Have to check what it cost, but I think it's about $600 p/a.
