just was looking at my fin collection and had a look at my usbox and power box fins, and i got me thinking if there is a sleeve on the market wich alowes you to use your us box as a power, the fins their selfs had around the same length on them and the us is has a skinnier base so it would give enough room to put a sleeve around it, so is there one on the market or is this somthing that should be developed

Jordo, you can get powerbox (and other type) heads. I know surf sail in leederville have them for about 15-20 bucks.
Only thing is you have to modify the top of the fin. that means once its fitted to the powerbox head you cant go back.

I tried it out on an old slotted fin I had, worked well.

Fantastic idea Jordo though this would mean people would spend less money and it would be one of the first ever instances where things where compatible with our sport...... let's get back to reality though.
For a powerbox you need to drill an 8mm hole thru the mid point of the fin base for the bolt to attach to. Also the profile of the casing means the depth of the US box is too deep so grinding is required.
I would suggest you hit up MFC for sponsorship if u wanna save some coin.

yer select does the base conversion thing, just screws on, but you cant use it for us box again, you have to cut the tab for the bolt off.

well today i had a little muck around with the idea, and with my new MFC freewave it actually slotted into a powerbox head perfectly, no need for grinding, but this us head was a little different from the other us boxes,. so i think i could be onto somthing, the one problem i can think of though is getting the hole so the bolt can secure onto the fin, some way, but i have a few ideas still wich i could try out, now what i need is to get a few more power box heads, and tuttle heads, so i can play around some more again
