well on Friday i had surgery, and i thought i'd share some pics




surprisingly I'm off the painkillers and feeling pretty good. what you don't see is that they had to steal tendon out of my left knee ( the nurse got the dressings on too quick). apparently they peeled my skin back past the scar from my old surgery in jan to fix up the cock up that was made.
might be back on the water in 9 to 12 months if it all goes ok. not bad considering i had 3 ligaments replaced, multiple bands tightened and over $4000 worth of metal inserted into my knee.

After 3 reconstructions all hockey related I feel for you.

The rehab is the fun bit, take it slowly and gain power before water starting on a windsurfer.
I paid in time, 8 weeks, for going back too early.
Slippery floors are my biggest fear - nightmare material

I forgot, staple removal doesn't hurt
Can't say the same for the drain removal.

I sat there, my knee moving up and down on a traction machine when the nurse came in to remove the drain, she said the staples were a bugger to get out, she LIED, so I wouldn't scream.
The next time I was ready for the drain removal, morphine drip or magic pill.

That drainage thing looks grim - is that what usually happens?

Can you talk us through how you crashed landed onto the beach?

You lucky lucky lucky lucky B.......d - the drain didn't hurt, I want the name of your nurse.
Were you in an induced coma?

Oh and we did not have the magic button just the "If you stop whimpering I might arrange another Morphine injection in the bottom or thigh with this huge needle to help you feel better"

I know of 3 good friends who have passed out when the drain was removed by the vicious nursing staff (Dr watching on - not being brave enough to get in reach), nurses were attractive tho.
I think the "I'll hold your jatz while you remove the drain" came from knee drain removal word of mouth.
I know 2 otho's who have long retired scared of meeting patients after drain removal
