fri - kirra 20-25kn NW
sat - shearwater 15kn ESE (will it work with that direction)

Hey Gestalt,

Been a while since I've been out in the waves. Every time I get my butt spanked... but I'll be at Kirra on Friday.

Got a score to settle with that break... hope that new sail can help show Kirra who's boss! (I need all the help I can get Tide looks good too, low tide around 2:45pm

Email me your mobile so we can find each other. Dave will probably be keen as well...

Looks like the northerlies are arriving early hey! I was so tempted today.

Cool sounds like a good day. Lets hope the forecast follows through.

i haven't sailed Kirra before. can someone let me know the rigging location. i am very excited. will we be mainly in the beach break? or will the point be working? i will also try and organise some guys from up here.

nebbian - i fear i may be in for some spankings as well. email has been sent.

eggs - will do.

haircut - are you going to Kirra too?

Vando - bugger, i got family comitments tomorrow. very keen to catch up for a sail though. wednesday or thursday?

hobie14t - double bugger. here is a link from a previous whitsundays posting. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21088&SearchTerms=whitsundays

i am going to the AGM so i will keep you informed.

anyone for the shearwater saturday arvo?

i try to go to kirra for friday. there is no point break at kirra, just the superbank, but the waves generally peel to the north even on a northerly blow, so u can't really ride down the line type stuff. It just offers fun jumping waves on the bar and flattish water in the front. it's about the only spot on goldcoast where u can get a run up at the waves

by the way, what is AGM?

Gestalt and anyone else who wants to join in:

Rig up on the northern side of North Kirra Surf Lifesaving Club. This is more like a pub than anything else. It's on the beach, just get to North Kirra and drive along the road that runs closest to the beach and you'll see it.
I park in the club carpark, others park just a little bit further north on the road. I think there is a playground there as well. Grass rigging area, shower for afterwards as well.

It's a bit of a walk to the water though (feels like 100m!).

The sandbank pretty much starts just to the south of the club, and extends a fair distance. I've never seen flat water on the inside but it's rumoured to exist. Getting out can be challenging if you're not very experienced. If the wind's right you can blast along the beach for a good kilometre, but be careful not to go too far downwind (close to the beach) as the beach curves and you end up running out of water trying to get back to where you started from.
Also a word from the wise: Have a good hard look at the layout of buildings around the spot where you started, as it's easy to get off at the wrong stop and then not be able to get out again due to the crashing shorebreak and lack of sandbank, making you do the walk of shame for no reason. Even more embarassing is realising that you've just walked 200m the wrong way.

the flat water is only really flat when at dead low. i don't think you've sailed it at dead low, or on a north westerly nebs, as the last few times we sailed there it had a lot of east in it and was still lumpy in front. i personally like it when its nnw and it's under 2 metres at low tide. Anything much bigger and i need to go change my undies

mmm sounds like Kirra friday, all going well Ill come down for a session! what time of the day are you kids pencilling in to get there? Im assuming as Nebbian mentioned most of you rig up at the north Kirra surf club? Is that kind of oposite the road near Kirra surf or up the northern end of that street that runs parallel to the beach?

Vando,

if the wind is N and the forecast comes good, with the tide at 04 I will try and make it to Lota Creek Run - I will launch from RQ Side at Manly.

If I see you out - great!!!!

Charging up the GPS as we talk.

Vando,

Me too. Not sure If I will launch from Wello or the creek. (Long mud walk at low tide)

Looking at the lay of the land on Google - N even NW or NNW really suits Lota Creek run.
