hi vando,
one thing about the east coast lows article that needs correction is that houses in the brisbane area are only really designed to meet 33m/s wind speeds (no worries there at the moment hey). brisbane coastal and around caboolture are designed to meet 41m/s this is all non-cyclonic, (judging by the current wind speeds, total overdesign), once you move north past bundaberg it becomes cyclonic and jumps up to about 50-60m/s. north west coast of WA is up around 80m/s cyclonic, (lucky bastards). the local shielding, topography and region are what affects predicted windspeed and ultimate design state. to much information i know, but i am board from lack of wind....

the windiest times i remember are the late 80's early 90's back in the golden age when caloundra was a mecca. with the recent devastation at the northern end of bribie hopefully a few big storms will clean out the passage so it can return to the good old days. open it up again to allow 200m flat water prior to the bar and its ramps. no i am not a environmental terrorist. nut i'll compromise to storm and no damage, anything above 17knots will do fine.
found another funny link. those crazy conspiracy theory yanks are at it again.
www.greatdreams.com/weather/weather_manipulation.htmmaybe they are actually onto something and america stands a chance to become the new millenium canary islands. will do more research into their theories and see if i can apply it to wello.
i'm definately hoping we get a bumper year. i sold my 4.2 ezzy wave at the swap meet. bought it 3 years ago and have never used it. murphy's windsurfing law states that the wind will be opposite to the gear purchased or sold. so it should start blowing soon.
the bad news is that windguru has nothing over 10knots for the next 2 weeks. thanks nebbian for the link... now i know just how depressing things will be so i can mentally prepare.
i wonder how many words i can type before the post gets to big...

on the glass half full side. i doubt even the kitesurfers are getting any decent sessions at the moment. maybe surfing is the go.
i know, i'll take my land board down to the local skate park and see how it goes... will rig the 10.9 as the wind is really light. hope i don't scare off the youngsters...
maybe tow in windsurfing should be investigated. we can use my formula gear and ask windsurfing queensland for the rescue boat.
if we were to tow a windsurfer up to speed, would the apparent wind speed be enough to keep planing?

perpetual windsurfing!
the lack of wind has also got my wife worried. today makes the third time in 2 weeks that i have cleaned and sorted every piece of kit i own. she has never known me to do any cleaning of any kind and thinks i may be having a crisis.
did you hear. the forecast for tomorrow is 15-20 knots. laughed my ass off at that one for over an hour. maybe the tv weather dudes know something no one else does. or is it a conspiracy to make me skip work and then get sacked because i have no valid reason.
