whats the deal with windsurfing in Augusta? Saw some guys out on Saturday on the river there and it looked good. What's the best time of year, wind direction, places to go etc?
thanks
Brett

If the wind is in the right direction you can sail up towards the river mouth parallel to the beach. Its flat and you can hammer. The last couple of times I've been there it has really happened though.

Augusta is really good flat water in a ese or e wind just launch from colour patch or there abouts and run over towards the dead water ,there is also the ocean side when the wind is in the is more easterly tho tends to be be a bit gusty then

hey brett, missed you on our quick cervantes afternoon stop the other week. I was sailing Augusta before xmas and its pretty cool. ESE is good. The dunes are really high on the sandbar now and the water is pretty low so lots of shallow spots and super gusty- about 5 knots lighter than the main beach. You can tack out through the mouth and play in the onshore stuff. Lots of shallow spots there too, but only sand. Its entertaining on go-fast gear in half mast close together onshore waves... quite challenging. Watch the reefs up towards flinders bay tho. I lost a few cm of fin there when it sucked dry on me.
