I know this one has been around the block several times but with fathers day coming up i was hoping to get some ideas.

i am after anything with decent wave sailing and all set to a punk or hardcore soundtrack. like surfing movies i have seen where the music is just as important as the action.

my only issue with the windsurfing vid's is that they ar sometimes only 30-40 mins long.

cheers
gestalt.

I just bought "SPAM" from Surf FX yesterday, it's exactly what you're after.

68 minutes of people jumping, spinning, smacking, all set to various soundtracks.

I'll gladly swap it for a copy of "Turn for the Better" or similar. DVD played once, brand new condition, not really my cup of tea...

are you being sarcastic? All bloody recent windsurf dvd's are set to fac@&%ng punk and FAC^&%$ing hardcore music. Damn, if I watch another DVD with that music i'm gonna fall a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (except p'n'p and feed your soul). even home vids of uncle bob on his 140 litre freeride doing a gybe at 5 kmph at the broadwater gets put to hardcore punk music

p.s - can we please ban footage taken from the beach zzzzzzzzzzz Much of the stuff filmed in the eighties was better than todays weak commercial efforts. What ever happened to footage taken from a helicopter and jetski etc? surely there must be a sports film producer out there with some originality

i feel better now

nope, no sarcasm,

but if i got a vid that was set to bloody techno or anything close to world music i would burn it......

so rather than waste the gas in the cigi lighter i thought i would be specific.

the best vids i have seen are the boogie board ones. setup more like video clips to songs. lots of pennywise, guttermouth, fugazi etc.

hey nebbian, how come you are not into spam. i haven't seen it myself and was wondering

I hate the way it clogs up my inbox.

Seriously, it's great for what it is, which is a surfing style "Oh my god that guy is totally sick, he's rippin' it up, that track is fully awesome, pass the b*ng so I can fl*g myself while pretending I'm that good". Lots of guys doing lots of spinny things both on and off waves.

I was after something a bit more sedate and technique oriented, like "Here's someone doing a basic bottom turn in slow-mo." But it's all that my local shop had

SPAM is great but the worst thing about it is the music!!! Footage is great (tops) but music has good indie rock stuff and metal, but then mixes it in with heaps of world music tribals weird sh!t that sounds like a sheltered workshop bongo drums lesson with some lesbian wailing about how bad love is.... in Spanish.

However I'm glad I bought it JUST for the very first move: JP's one handed, tweaked aerial that must be 20ft hi. Sickest air I've ever seen on vid.

Closest to perfect vid would be half of Greenie mixed with half of Plug n Play (scenes wise they are both 75% I reckon, but Greenie has best soundtrack, not one weird or crap song)

Haircut, dunno wat u r on about, I think the last 3 or so vid's I've watched have the best footage I've ever seen, lots of chopper, jetski and in water compared to 10 -15 yrs ago.

Wave Sailing Secrets Revealled is not bad as an instructional, that's what it is.

Good tips from Levi Siver etc. but it's dedicated to Ho'okipa, cross-off down the line so if you don't get those conditions you have to think a bit to translate it for your locality.

Chapters are: Getting out, catching waves, right of way, wipe out, bottom turn, top turn, lip smack, aerials, forward loops, back loops, push loop, more aerials.

i guess there is more than one way to pull out of a closeout,

Windy Miller no betetr than that, it was not bailing from a closeout, it was an aerial landing back on the wave to keep riding... and best I've ever seen.

Not Wal glad you appreciated it

oh boy am i looking forward to seeing spam!!!

mark_aus, sickest move i have seen on vid was Cesare Cantagalli (not sure if i spelt it right) doing a forward loop off the lip onto the face of a 30ft monster wave at jaws. it had the lot, helicopter shots, some of the most awesome waveriding and jumps that cause nose bleeds.

still looking for a copy of that vid.

greenie remembers it as radical attitude and mentioned josh angulo getting barrelled... www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17347

hardie thought it might be radical action???

p.s, hardie, did you ever find your copy.?

Yeah you will like it.... the first episode (if that is the word) has your style of music too.

Ol' Cesare huh... inventor of the cheese roll. He ripped for a few years and then disappeared. I'd have thought he went off to own a board or sail company etc but never heard of him after about 1990 ish?

Why is it that everyone does forwards and hardly anyone tries cheeserolls anymore? Cheeserolls are fun, probably more fun than forwards. Less backslap for one thing. But forwards are easier to land. Sounds like impressing others is more important than having fun.
