As you can see a bit of light bogging today.
Mainly just filling in Pete's finger holes, and filling the hollows in the rails.
Tried a bit of sanding, but resin is clogging the paper, needs to cure a bit more.

So it may not be such a crazy idea after all.
Bogged the other rail and bottom today. Resin had cured nicely and was easy to sand without clogging.
Next step is to glass the rails, wind tomorrow so maybe Thursday.
Pete's pics to come.

Thanks Pete, that captures glass tape going on to a rail.
We don't want any tuck behind the footstraps. The glass reinforces the Qcell bog.

So hole cut for the fin box and the other rail glassed.
Now all we have to do is securely fix it in there, so the fin is upright and pointing forward.
There's a bit more slop than I was hoping for.
As this board will be used on flat weed, with delta fins, we've put the box about 5cm further forward than usual.
Unfortunately Peter's quiver of Delta fins have their center of lift all in different places, so we've gone for a bit of a compromise.
Time will tell how footstrap positions work out. They may have to come back a bit.

Fin box in today. Now waiting for resin to cure so we can tell if it's in straight and square.
I'm quietly confident, at least the center lines line up top and bottom.

I think we'll get the surplus box off the deck with a grinder. The fiberglass over.
Bog and sand the rails, then it's back to Peter for the painting and finishing off.
AND I'll insist on a test drive to see how it goes!

A bit more done today, cut the excess finbox off the deck, filled some voids in the bottom and bogged one of the rails.
Next step, another layer of carbon top and bottom over the fin box, to tie it all in, then more bogging and sanding.
Wind Fri and Sat, going out Sunday, so next step probably Monday.

Today, sanded rail and bottom of finbox.
Carboned the bottom rear of the board to tie in the finbox and reinforce the impact area.

A few shots here, showing our work this morning but not in order.
We removed the weights, foam mattress and plastic from the bottom, over the extra layer of carbon.
Trimmed the excess carbon off the rails.
Routed out the carbon covering the fin box.
Bogged the rails, and smothered with a mylar strip. Every time I do this I get a buzz from how well it works.
Bogged the bottom.
Next trick is carbon over fin box on the deck..
