How about I lend you a 40 or 37??
What sort of board do you use?

Hey Katapult,

The conference was great. Had quite a few good sessions with the only GPS one being on the new JP FSW 77 with a 5.0 Combat Wave out from Sugar Cove. Logged the stats from the session but looks like no one else got out that day meaning it counted for squat.

Best bit was having Micah rig a 6.7 Proto RS Slalom sail to take out for a blast. Nice setup on the new 100L Supersport board. Should have had the GPS then as it felt super quick.

Bring on Friday. Haven't felt this sick in ages.

Sam.

Sam where and when are you thinking of heading out?

7 Jun 2007 11:50am
Hopefully anywhere but the lake but if it's going to stay true SE then I don't think we'll have much choice.

I try for an early one around 7ish but if no good might head to St.George later and stalk some cruiser wakes for flat water.

See you tomorrow.

Sam.

It still looks like 28 knots SE, so i'll be way overpowered on my only race sail, but least i should post some good speeds. 35 knots is the goal.

See you there Sam.

Hi Sam,

Will any of that new gear still be in Maui when I get there in 4 weeks time. That would be a great way to pick my new gear for 08.

Sam and I just finished a session at Gunnamatta Bay.

30 - 40 knots, very choppy and blinding rain in the face.

Sam on 5.4 RS Racing and JP 69 Slalom Peak around 35+ knots

I was on 5.0 RS 5 and Tabou Manta 49 peak around 32+ knots

Hey Waitin For,

I'll see what I can organise for you. Shouldn't be too much of an issue.

You'll love all the new goodies.

Speed stuff from today was a bit unspectacular but according to BOM it was gusting close to 50 so control was pretty tough.

How's the door Kukahi? Did you get out at the Box today? Must have been huge up there.

Sam.

I think I may try Gunamatta tommorow. KA34, it's at the end of the peninsula at Port Hacking, you can get to the launch area through Darook Park. There is a nice grass rigging area and the beach is sheltered in a southerly. However the beach is 200m from the nearest parking spot. It get dangerously shallow at low tide, so yo need pick your time.

Thanks Des.
I had a look on Google but couldnt figure it.
Me and a mate are gonna try a secret spot in Pittwater that I havent tried since the late 80's.
If we come down is there is a easy way to get there?
It seems that the tide is the governing body at the moment.
Where we are looking at is tide important too!!

Door is still on but a gaping hole has been left. Box was out of control Friday. No sailing to be done there, too many wind bombs and too much sand flying around to even rig up. Toowoon was the same. Had a look at Canton yesterday and ended up at the Box. Surf was only about 6ft. 6.6 and sl*t board (the one everyone has ridden KA-43) was fast but speeds where well below mentioning. Today seems windy but I am unsure?

Hey guys, I'm back from o'seas and it looks like you've had some wind!! Looking forward to catching up on who has done what and getting amongst it myself. I'll post some pics of the speed spot in West Kirby in the UK once I've downloaded all my pics to the puter.
Sam I hope to hear from you soon especially about getting hold of a couple of boards to demo as soon as it's windy.
Ahhhh it's good to be home

What a blast on Friday! I've never been so worried about sailing as that day. I should have taken the wave board and a 4.7m but I had footstrap problems so I had to stick with the kinetic! I assumed it would be easier to sail it with a race sail than a wave sail..

Almost hit the 30 knot mark so i'm really pleased to be honest. My Alpha will be very low as each run I stopped and checked to see if I was still alive!

Did anyone get out wavesailing over the weekend?

Hey Crash,

With the 6.8 did you actually manage to sheet in? I was in Brissie for the weekend and saw that there were 40-50kt gusts!

Yes.

The only real problem was the size of the board, the wind kept getting under it so I had to sail it like a kiteboard so the wind pushed it onto the water! I had a lot of dangerous tail walks to be honest.

That gun race sail was amazing in that wind strength, it stayed completely stable. I guess thats what you get from having a sail with 4 cams and 50 cm wide luff tube!

I just have to let Bud from windsurfingsales know that he now has a bent boom...

I know it's only Wednesday but Saturday is looking good for a southerly, sou easter. Anyone interested in Sandringham (Botany Bay) in the early arvo for low tide on the speed strip????

That or Fairlight or Sandringham on Sunday. Isn't a SW better (as forecast for Sunday)? I've never been there.

From when I've sailed there a straight southerly seems to work best at Sandringham. I think a sou'wester would be fine too. I've always found Fairlight/Clontarf too short and too gusty. Is there a secret spot I don't know about that may be better????

Fairlight can be awesome when the wind direction is perfect for a Reef Beach to Quarantine run. I've done some 34 knot runs there in a southerly. It does get super choppy if all the boats are out though! It can also be amazing just downwind of the rocks at Reef Beach as you can bare away for a 2nd peak!

Only problem is that it's not that flat and i want to beat 35 knots. So maybe Sandringham should be it.

Hey fella's,
In the event we actually do get some wind this coming weekend Ive organised to borrow some different boards off Sam so everyone can try some proper speed/slalom gear. Ill have my stuff there too.
So heres my email address [email protected] so if you like we can co-ordinate something. Maybe we can swap email addresses or mobile numbers to make things easier. Sick-em already has mine.
Let me know what you think, just email me at work.
Cheers
Larko
