Hello all - I can't seem to get any SD cards to work in my BGT-31. Every time I try to format the card it fails. Any advice? I know there are cards that don't work, but I've tried 3 now and none work.

FWIW I had issues finding cards that worked too.
Eventually I found, in a camera shop, :
SanDisk 2gb MicroSD card installed in a ProMaster Micro SD adapter ( I had a SanDisk adapter but it was seriously tight in the GT31's slot so I dumped it.)
No hassles any more. Good luck!

BTW : +1 that comment from ikw777 that it MUST be a 2gb card.

2 gig or smaller? Not many that small these days. Why so small?

Because the GT-31s are a fairly old design. Search for old SD cards in old digital cameras. It doesn't matter if the card is 128MB or 256MB.

I suspect if you set up a 2gb partition on the card and format it fat16, it may work.
Any body tried?

That all sounds like code to me Capt'n but then you know my digital ability levels. Have I met fat16 and where does he sail?

I got my 2gb micro SD off eBay ( not many around) and the adapter from a local camera store that had some old stock.

It must be a compatible brand and under 2GB:SanDisk 2GB
Transcend 1GB
Kingston 2GB
PNY 2GB
Apacer 2GB 60X

These SD cards can be quite tricky to find cheaply but you can find 2GB SanDisk ones fairly often.

This is the one i got quite recently and it came in about a week and a half, works perfectly: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2GB-SanDisk-SD-Memory-Card-SDSDB-002G-B35-Standard-Black-Secure-Digital-Genuine-/371180034193?pt=AU_Electronics_Memory_Cards&hash=item566c0dd891

Indeed. EBAY is your friend.

Or to be techy about it:

- it needs to be a "low voltage" SD card.
- it needs to formatted FAT16 and have 32k cluster sizes.

I haven't tried a 4GB card formatted for 2GB... it may work, but I wouldn't bet on it... as 4GB cards use a faster data-transfer-rate. It probably is worth trying though.

As above, but if you want to do your own analysis you need software, there's 3 alternatives, "realspeed", "GPSresults" and "GPSarPRO". Realspeed is Australian, but I think only has a windows version. GPS results has mac and windows, and gpsarpro works on any system that has up to date Jarva installed.
