We have been using total doppler. I think it is the same as alphas lots of variables. Do you delete slow points? If so how slow? I think Gpss is 5 knots? Some times realspeed and the Navi odometer are different. Why? Too many numbers!!!!!

Raised this before, sometimes i have had a 10km difference when posting on GPSS because of the 5knot min speed, if your out on the water you are sailing even when your slogging away.
yep I agree, a lot of our distance attempt yesterday was done in non planing conditions. To get robed of those very hard earned k's wouldn't be fair. And yes I use "total doppler distance".
It was mentioned earlier that this can cause errors if you have a min speed set, the higher you set min speed the worse the error.
Apparently, if logging stops at, say 5kts, realspeed assumes the period between the logging stopping and starting again is all at that speed. Probably best not to set min speed, amount of available memory on a 1gig card isn't an issue.

We did a lot of pain for every metre of slogging, fck having a minimum, I reckon everyone of those slogging km's was worth 10kms!!!!!!!!
Draft rules for wgpssrc have no min speed setting and timekeepers judgment to disallow what appears to be any excessive distance due to walking etc.
Remember that there will be a small amount of error in distance, just as there can be in speed. If it is 100km and the error is, say 1%, the actual distance covered could be between 99 and 101km. If the distance traveled is in on direction, the errors should mostly cancel out. Most of us go back and forth (like lots of Alphas) so larger errors may accumulate like that.
