One too many bloody Lake George video, way too many PBs. After watching the videos and reading about all the sessions for the past two years, we want to go there! The only problem is that we are at the US East Coast. We can deal with the 20 hour flight and $2000+ tickets, but bringing gear is probably not an option.

Help us dream - how could we possibly do this? I guess renting speed gear is not possible? Buy when we arrive (or before), sell when we leave? I think we'd need local help for this. We usually spend $400/week on rental gear, so spending $800 for two weeks per person (plus any breakage) would be perfectly fine.

There be at least 2, and maybe 4 or 5, windsurfers from the "Fogland Speed Surfers" team going. Perhaps for once, we would not be fighting to not be at the bottom of the monthly rankings. We like long sessions, so a Lake George trips sounds way more tempting than Lüderitz!

Any ideas and suggestions would be really welcome.

If gear was available for fly in sailors it would make the prospect a whole lot easier - would take a week off the travelling time and would make a few days of sailing at Lake George feasible.
boardsurfr, I think your journey would make a great little documentary. Unknown little South Australian lake attracts windsurfers from east coast US, and the obstacles they have to overcome to get there. Leaving in ice & snow, long flights, tracking down gear in Aus, driving through country South Australia for hours to go speed sailing in near perfect conditions including warmth & sunshine. Pb's and glory galore, and the camaraderie of sharing it all in a quaint aussie pub at the end of the day!

Seems like there may be a bit of market opportunity for a windsurfing business at Lake George. If a lakeside property could be bought then possibly a resort with cabins could be set up. Of course for at least half the year business would be very quiet so this could only be a sideline business at best.

I can relate to you Windxtasy, my other half is not into windsurfing either so does complicate windsurfing holidays, because they sit there bored ****less while we're out there having fun.

He sits around while you sail?...I wish..Although I must admit he has sat around and taken photos occasionally so he's not that bad..

Only at comps, must be very frustrating for a hyperactive but non windsurfer to actually sit around and watch windsurfing.

I only live a tad over 2 hrs drive away and only sailed there twice. Had all intentions to go this weekend again but the wind gods aren't being kind so will have to take a rain-check.
