Hardie what are gpsss thoughts on the team scenario are they interested.
I think it would be great to have an international based comp as well a country based one.
So one database but can be filtered to See dutch team ranking or Aussie ream ranking and World ranking teams.
Each country comp should arrange there own sponsorship and the world one international sponsorship.
Does this make sense ?

Yes makes sense, as I said we have been in talks with them but they work on a committee model. Whatever happens the Ozzie GTC stays the same, and anything is possible internationally, but not sure what gps-ss are doing, they were keen many months ago though.

Although it would be nice to include OS sailors it would complicate things and detracts from the original 'have a go' philosophy. NZ should be included as it would be easy to add it to the groovy map on the front page.

You should stay loyal to the existing sponsors and not allow any conflicts to occur.
Just say thanks but no thanks. It's easy to join something once it's up and running but harder to support something when it starts up.
Thanks Thommen and Gaastra.

Politics: I'm more than happy living under the benevolent dictatorship of Hardie and Nebs the last thing I want is committees, voting etc etc.

I reckon you should produce a T-Shirt. First have a design comp with a small prize, then sell the T-Shirts at cost + $15. This would help cover your overheads. I'm sure us fashion victims would be more then happy to shell out for a stylish GTC T-Shirt.

Keep up the good work

I did tee shirts for the Cockroaches. Did a deal with the boss and he happily did them for us for free!
Back when we mooted the idea I did a couple of designs for other states but no one seemed interested so I let it go.

You guys should look at what Rexy is saying.
The Cockroach T's are cool and not something that anyone else is gonna have.
Just another thing to help with the $ thing and make windsurfers involved in the GTC feel some what special

I'm with keeping it as is, but let the sheep jumpers in also

But if Hards and Nebs can and want to make a buck out of all their work, then good on them and let them do as they will, could get bigger than Ben Hur

The t-shirt idea is a good one, I'd be up for one for sure

Yes I think 2 T-shirtd for this household.

I think including the kiwis would be OK.

How about challenge stickers too
put these on our sails so we can spot fellow challengers that we may not have met before

Basically i agree with what everyone said.

Hardie and Nebs run with it if you want to.
Or just keep it the same.

We have all kicked a goal either way.

T-shirts................ now thats a great idea!!!!!!

Rex, you've got talent. Knock up a few ideas and send to Hardie. I'm sure between you Neb Hardie and Bender etc you can choose a design most of the GTCers would be happy to wear.

IMHO gtc should be global but with regional filters to allow the focus to stay local and fun. By going global we can then have the Wgtc which would be fed from the regional comps. Imagine the ashes series against the pommes. Any 2 oz sailors sail on the same day in this great country verses any 2 sailors from the uk. I cant think of anything better then competing for ones country. Who knows, we may even start to get some international sailors coming to our speed comps and venues.
Slowboat, I dont think NZ is part of OZ yet. As far I as know it is a remote island off the coast of tassie somewhere

So are you saying keep the Aussie challenge as it is but superimpose the international on top.
Then say if there's a blinder from both slowie posting for SRM and Sailquick posting for the Pit crew, the software can pick them as the best two from Aus, against any of the other countries involved. (The only trouble with that is getting good wind at opposite sides of the country on the same day)

So does than mean, If anybody isn't interested in the international element, they only need to keep the filter on Aus, and the challenge is then identical to how it is now?

If so that could keep everybody happy.

T-shirts sound good, how about different colours for each state, then if you travel everyone knows where youré from.
Keep the graphics the same for all as it gets expensive when you start putting team names etc.
Each state has an official colour I think, anyone know for sure?
I think Tassy is Pink

Perhaps another category could be added based on number of sessions/postings per month. Say points being awarded on the basis of number of team members posting divided by number in team, accumulating for the month. ie If a 4 person team has 2 members post they get 0.5 points for the day while a 10 member team with 4 postings would get 0.4 points. This will reward the teams getting most postings AND highest percentage of team members sailing.

Yes it's a good idea, and floated before, ATM we are gonna keep it the same, but this is one of the ideas that is floating around with a few other good one's.
