Yer Baby we gained 7 points today big effort from the guys.
The only thing we could have done is distance but just not enough time on a work day. Its was tough conditions with a few crashes here and there.
Pretty good cosidering we competing against sandy point times.
great stuff thats what the comps all about.

sorry Hardie

Awww...c'mon Pierre and Vando! What are you guys whinging about? You have it all up there in WARM, windy banana land including one of the best speed runs on the planet a measly 3 hr drive away! Poor old Chris L has to fly for more than that to get a decent run!
You are on top aren't you? This month anyhow.....

Geeze. If anyone has the right to winge it is us poor Sandy Point sods. Almost a month of no wind and even then it is only an average blow. And no where in the whole area for a NM mile run that all you other teams are whopping us on. And pretty soon it will be so cold it would re-arrange a brass monkeys love life. Fair dinkum! I recon we should get some sort of handicap allowance to even things up a bit! [}:)]

Snides buzzed me on the mobile an hour or two ago, "Have ya checked the challenge mate" he said, "we're on top"!

"God sails on the Swan" he said!

I thought he might have gone a bit hard on the Creatures Pale on a Friday but when I checked - he was on the money as usual!

Snides and Claude sat around at Pelican Point for a few hours this arvo waiting for a greasy sea breeze to fill in. They had the hour glint in their eyes - it never filled.

Bugger me if Pierre and Vando dont deliver us the month - maybe [i'm never sure with Vando - he is a tricky one and i have a long memory].

Anyway, if we do get the goods for Feb Snides and I have agreed to buy you two a slab of your beloved XXXX - but ya have to come and pick it up - isn't that all the incentive you need!!!

On the other hand we might [slim chance] do a Sandy mission for Al's gig later this year!

Hey sailquick how about we make a deal we'll give you the warm weather and you give us sandypoint
Im used to sailing in cold weather , i did live in Croatia 4 about 7 years and sailed every opportunity in winter with temp's reaching 0 deg n good 30 to 60 kts of wind but unfortunatly wasnt into speed then.
But your right there is no need for us to whinge it just gets a bit frustrating when you have good wind but no flat water.
About burrum you need the very low tide so you can sail the outer point to get a starboard run otherwise you'll have to sail portack and bare away from the bank beacuse the course gets too square but we will see in the future what really gives.

Um. My arithmetic is a bit shaky, but is it true that the Moreton Bay guys have handed the months win to the Swannies? This whole thing is getting very interesting indeed.

I haven't done the maths either Andrew, but their post certainly swapped the lead between you guys and the SRM.
Isn't it interesting how you don't do anything, and some other team gets in between you and the team ahead and lifts your score, over them.

You just don't know how it will end up till the last post.
It adds interest to this challenge, makes for a nail biting end of the month

Yep.

The scoring system is a bit funny like that, when a team posts a high score it devalues the efforts of other teams that did well in that category. And if two teams are close together on the table, and another team splits them, then it will penalise the lower of the first two teams (like Moreton Bay Mob did for the nautical mile, penalising the pit crew vs the Swan River Mob).

I like to think of it as a little bit of uncertainty, a bit of non-linearity thrown into the mix just to keep things interesting.

Yesterday the SRM boys were talking up a 20 knot hour, but no-one (including me) expected another team to change the balance like that! I guess it just goes to show how close the pit crew and SRM really are

My understanding was the MBM was between the Pit and SRM in the 1 hour category. When they improved it knocked the Pit down a point but had no effect on the SRM as they were already above them in that categotry.

In the Nm category, MBM were below the Pit but jumped up to 3rd on the last day but were still behind the SRM so didn't effect their score while knocking the Pit back another point.

The Swannies definitely lucked this one out.... A nice Steven Bradbury effort (your competitors take each other out)

It's not the Bradbury effect

It's the Butterfly effect.

Those Beautiful butterflys in Qld flapping those wings, bowled over the Sandy point boys whilst the gentle breeze they created lightly tickled the SRM crew.

It's all this weird cosmic interconnectedness thingy, plays even more havoc in the individual rankings
