I've Googled sugar and resin etc. Most of the articles I saw were older.
Any recommendations for paint on type grip?
It's cold and wet here so I'd probably have to wait for a sunny day and put the board in the sun to warm it up.
I've got 2 boards that need better grip in front of the front footstraps and just behind them.

I use bote cote epoxy with non yellowing hardener, sand back old grip tape up the area and use a roller, only need very thin film, for grip castor sugar or normal white sugar if you want stronger grip. Let dry for a day or so and wash off.

www.sanded.com.au/products/anti-slip-resin-additive?_pos=1&_psq=non+slip&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Really easy to use
paint or roll a thin layer of resin then sprinkle on

I spent forever searching for stuff as Intergrip is too rough. Like a lot of searching over years! So when I saw this a few months ago, I've been curious as to how this compares to the Cobra grip in feel?

I have 20grit acrylic and sieve it to get the big bits out (lose about 20% of it)

Intergrip is way more rougher.

400 seems a strange number compared to 20.... I'd be interested to know how similar it is to factory stuff.

Had no idea, thanks for passing that along. If it goes dark and not archived, I scraped a copy a few months ago should thecworst ever happen
Corresponded with her briefly a few years back- she was so nice.

Thanks everyone..I'm hesitating as I'm worried about stuffing it up!
Still, if I don't do, it I'm going to have a nasty catapult one day when my front foot slips off..
I'll buy some resin and the anti slip resin stuff..

That's a huge loss, I'm in shock.
Any idea how it happened?
All I can see is that she was 78.

I ended up buying some adhesive deckgrip.
I was a cheapskate ..They had softer less abrasive rolls for $68 but they only came in black or white. ( I have one black board and one white to fix).
I bought the cheaper clear stuff c $18 but it's like coarse sandpaper.
Should be good for grip but it will probably rip your skin off clambering on.
I wonder if a slight sand with wet n dry would help?
I'm also wondering what it will be like to remove once it wears out?
I'm waiting for some sunshine to dry everything before I put any of it on.

I thought I replied to this but I can't find it?
I've applied some of the tape to my old Exocet RS4. I wouldn't call it clear..grr
It's very abrasive. I'll see how it goes and add more if necessary.
If it works well I'll do my Windtech 64.
If it's too abrasive I'll have to get the more expensive stuff in white which shouldn't be too bad on the WT.

I applied a self adhesive tape many years ago and lost a lot if skin on it.
Wasn't durable either.

One sail in flatwater with the tape and 2 pieces were lifted off by the water. The inner ones held but we'll see.

You need to remove the left overs from the previous grip first and sand it smooth. It can't hold like this and it's clear but you see all air underneath so no way that will hold.

I found that if you're wearing booties, the deck grip is not that important. Maybe your booties need replacement instead?

Yup. and if you are sanding it smooth and cleaning it well enough for that Bunnings stuff to adhere, then you've done most of the work (prep) for doing it properly
At that point you may as well roll on resin and pour on caster sugar. Stuff for stairs is not for windsurfing (as Obelisk identified)

Or, bit harder but better looking - matte clear and acrylic dust

Booties are fine but the board is still dodgy if you're in chop and powered up a bit, but not enough to get in the front strap.
The main issue I've been having is trying to beachstart in shallow water with muddy feet.
I try and wedge my front foot near the mast base and let water wash the mud off as we go.

The only real stuff is this: www.nautix-windsurf.com/en/produit/antiderapant-nautix-grip/
This shop here offers international shipment. surf-snowcenter.de/Standflaechenlack-Nautix-Grip-500-ml

Process: use coarse 200-400 grit sandpaper and later 600-800 grit sandpaper to get rid of the old remaining grip. rinse the dust off properly. Mask the areas you don't want to regrip (foam pads, rails, mast track, vent screws). As a last prep step, use some alcohol or window cleaner to wipe dust and fat away.
Mix the grit and thinner properly as indicated, and roll it on to the board. It will be as good as new, and very durable (way more durable than the epoxy+sugar thing).

The deck tape is a temporary fix only. Some of it peeled off . The other worked well but eventually rubbed smooth. I've just put some more on until I can get the board redone properly.
I wear booties.. Not sure how abrasive it would be or bare feet although I didn't notice any issues clambering on.
