Hi guys,

Anyone know of any good speed spots along the SA coastline that doesn't have any big noahs to eat us windsurfers. A few of us are concerned Boggy Lake could be empty by March - April 2008.

Milang is an option but am interested in finding somewhere that may be tidal to give us a speed strip to work with. I have heard North Haven is good on north westerly but obviously need other places to sail on other directions. I would also like somewhere to be able to sail isonic 50 speedboard.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

why not just wear one of those shark cages while sailing

Back in the 90's we did alot of speed/slalom sailing at Edithburg/Coobowie,Sultana Point used to be a top spot with a long tidal sand bar don't know if it's still there.The bay at Edithburg is also great and you can sail near the bank.There are plenty of good spots we just have to find them,talk to as many fisherman as you can and i bet they would know.

Hey Carl,some of the biggest bitey fish have been seen at the Pit entrance,one at 5mt. A surfer was nibbled about 6 months ago.....Have I put you off yet

Just don,t fall in.That why we do fast Alpha,s at the Pit..

Hello Carl,

Choco is right, there used by speed trials held at Sultana Point and it can offer flatter water on the leeward side of the spit but from memory nothing to really make the wind any stronger than elsewhere. One of the other speed venues was Sellecks Beach in a gully wind. Pick a day with an extra strong gully wind (sunny with a SE airstream, evening or morning) and it is possible to get 30-40 knots cross-offshore katabatic wind. A bit like the Canary Islands speed course. Bullet gusts, and it is important to have a Plan B if your gear breaks or you hurt yourself (next stop Yorke Peninsula!)
