Has anyone yet invented a variable angle fin after the principle of the centerboard but with an efficient gasket system?
The fin could be foiled to work at its optimum angle 40-50 degrees but provide lift at lower speed on narrow boards.
Perhaps a two piece solid gasket shaped to provide an accurate fit at the required angle at speed?
Too hard?
Or an adjustable vertical fin in an enclosure fitted with the required lift mechanism??

Yoyo's certainly given it a lot of thought and tried to get me involved, but with my limited resources it just seemed too hard.

It would also have the advantage of lessening the shock of hitting weedburgs, rocks or a shallower that expected sandbank.
Could save the odd bit of equipment let alone the sailor.

Could easily borrow from the center board design, just need to design a tuttle head the will allow the fin to pivot and lock

I remember the Mistral Take Off, aptly nicknamed the Break Off for its frequent structural failures
