When finish sanding a fin should it be sanded with or across the cord?

As it so happens i was watching one of oz's best foil designers sanding a fin yesterday
And he was concentrating on sanding with the chord i.e in the direction of what the water would flow, if that helps.

try using a fine razor blade and scraping the fin , no direction in particular , you will find you have a flat scratch free surface
