An extended period of xmas family stuff sees me with a week near Ballina
Any clues as to where to go for flat water sailing or foiling would be appreciated. Not that I don't love sitting round listening to tarts coo over the new grandbaby.

Yep in the river is good there's a boat ramp past the skate park as you go into town from the ocean side - its good in a SE not sure about a Northerly

Had a look at Yamba, looked great but no nor easter on the horizon and high arvo tides. Maybe next trip.

There's a walkway between some of the houses that gets you out to the water access.

Ballina looks awesome, fingers crossed there might be enough wind there on boxing day.

Yep last 2 days at Yamba were awesome, 4.0 foil weather both days, great for practising gybes etc at whiting beach. Surprisingly less sailors then usual? I thought there was a few more local guys that were regulars but it's been a while between sails there for me.

Pity the river is so brown at the moment from the rains. Missed out on sailing at Ballina, but hopefully get a session in on the way back to Brisbane, river looks really nice there in all the photos and videos I've seen.

Finally made it to Ballina for a sail, was a bit of a gusty SE'er, but still a super fun sail, out on the 4.0 and foil, super fun just ripping around and playing with the swells. Unfortunately the water wasn't the crystal blue like the drone video, but I'll take opaque brown!

Did a quick MS paint for anyone else wanting to sail there. I parked at the dog beach, and launched from the sand area. Little bit of a shorebreak right in front of the carpark so launch a little bit further south down the beach. Nice grass to rig on, and there is a shower near the car parks.

Today was windier closer to the kiosk beach, further to the east, was a bit light in front of the dog beach area.
