Just a quick one... currently very high tide. Surf is about chest high from the South in the bigger sets. Wind is currently light from the North East but the clouds are moving all in the right direction. My guess is we will see winds peaking somewhere in the 20s. Should be a fun day.

As always check the usual spots on the way down.

Waves look good size. Can you try and get some photos of sailing them.

EPIC! Gerroa today was about as good as it gets. I went out at 3pm just as the wind kicked in and the swell started to really shine. It was solid mast high (maybe a bit more) in the big sets and about 25 knts.

Usually I'd be taking some photos but I was so excited I just couldn't bare standing on the beach just watching. I can't remember the last time I was that excited about getting out on the water. I only a quick video grap in the beginning (3pm) and a few photos at the end (7:50pm). Sorry for the quality of the screen grab from the video.

There where plenty of people on the water with GoPros so I am hoping some footage will show up.

BTW, this was one of the small sets:

^^^^ You obviously havent seen much of Gerroa if you think that is the best it gets. Yes the waves were big,but they were closing out big time because the tide was so low.The wind was gusty as,yes i know Gerroa is gusty but this was a lot worse than usual , holes in the wind everywhere. It was nice to see a few guys really smashing the set waves. A good day at Gerroa is waves that big where at least 3 bottom turns can be made not one, and where you can actually sail straight back out without walking back up the beach, which everyone was doing .Ohh nearly forgot to mention about how many guys getting pounded on there way out . <<<< now thats a locals opinion

One word. BIG! haha. Got there late after work at about 530 and the wind looked a bit NNE (so super cross off) but it was still pretty windy, even if super gusty. Some massive close out sets at times but if you picked the right wave there were some good ones to be had. It was pretty sketchy getting out at times with the wind so cross of, got worked over good and proper once, surprise my gear survived that one.

Keen to see some pics/vids of earlier in the day, the banks didn't seem that good late in the day, closing out fairly hard most of the time. Probably a bit better down the beach but the wind was super patchy so late in the day so wasn't that keen to venture down for fear of gear detonation

I think the problem was that most people took off too far North. I got plenty of waves with 3 or 4 turns but you had to charge for it. Plus around 4:30 there was actually enough wind to sail straight out from in front of the foot path to the car park.

Either way I had a great day and from the smiles I saw on people's faces I probably wasn't the only one.
