I sailed LECHNER. With 9.5 raceboard. Pete foil with 8.5, Sam sailed imco one design with 6.8.
Wind was 8 knots max at first, but half way through our session built to 19 average, gusting to 27 knots, as reported be local weather station.
Pete did a remarkable job, actually pumping onto the foil in 8 knots, but still surviving on the foil with 20plus knots .
As the wind built I took the opportunity to learn much about the lechner CB up with track back. Not something Ive done much of before.
Then the wind went up another gear and we lost Sam. Petes keen eyes picked him out. I decided I was going to need rescuing if I stayed out and went got the car to retrieve Sam from the far side of the bay.
I think we all learned stuff about our capabilities today, and probably stretched thing to a new higher level.
Sam was amazig , both in how well he sailed before the gale, (right across the bay) but also in the way he calmly self rescued. Nothing seems to phase him. Well done sam.
