Hi all, I just to Manly and thought Lake Tuggerah looks like a good spot for windsurfing.
what are the best launch spots there and best wind directions? I'm assuming a weed fin is needed there is that correct?
Also any other spots for free ride surfing around the Manly area? I surf a Starboard Futura 117 with a Severne Turbo 7.0m.

I have not sailed there but someone told me Canton beach is the go in southerly/westerly directions and apparently a weed fin is a must.
I could only guess Toukley Lookout / Carpark might be the go in the summer breeze types.
Hope to check it out some time soon...

Canton Beach is great and very popular in a Southerly.
Budgewoi lake is my preference in South to South West and is a cracker in a summer North Easterly.
You can launch from various places on Tuggerah Lakes, the old ceiling club at Long Jetty, Berkeley Vale or near the lake side entrance to the Entrance channel. But weed is a problem all over the lake, so make sure you use a weed fin.
Note, Canton and even more so Budgewoi are very shallow. As such a Delta weed fin is mandatory.

Delta fins not needed at Canton but are required to go speed sailing into the shallows at Budgewoi. Can use weed fin at Tuggerah and in the southern part of Budgewoi. On Tuggerah most launch at Canton in S SW or W winds. North entrance at old fish co op used to be popular in NE but most now launch at Peel Street Toukley on Budgewoi in NE wind. Long Jetty sailing club is ok in NE or S but it's a long walk out, haven't sailed there in years.
