Just did an attempted drive by ahead of Wednesday's predicted Nor Easter and bump in swell.
With all the road works and preps for Novembers Super Cars, Wharf Road is now blocked from the Round About near the old train station (Watt Street) all the way up to Nobbys.

Unsure if Nobbys Road and Pasha Way (into the surf club car park is still open)

I'm looking at sailing Nobbys on Wednesday. If I can't get in there, Dixon Park could be just as good if not better if the wind cranks in. Haven't sailed there in 20 years. I've got some new sails to test

Those sails haven't changed in 20 years anyway. You'll be right.

Hey just thought I'd jump into this thread to ask a few questions about windsurfing in newy.

I lived over in Perth for about five years and did a lot of sailing there. I lived in Safety Bay and learnt in the pond then spent the rest of the time blasting in Cockburn Sound/Shoal Bay and over at Penguin Island. I sold all my gear before I came back to Newy but now I want to get back into it.

I haven't ever done proper wave sailing as such but feel that Lake Macquarie would be a little boring and miss out on the seabreeze. Are there any intermediate places to sail? Also, are there any windsurfing shops around in Newy anymore?

Thanks in advance.

Hi stewbo good to hear you're keen.

The lake can be plenty of fun and not too boring. coal point in a nor'easter has lots of chop/ramps and in a southerly lots of places are good if you prefer it rough.

Gareth runs a shop in Blackalls park (near Toronto). Google windsurfing shop .com .au and he has quite a bit of stock.

kite and sup in Warners bay can get most of the bigger brands in for you as well but they only stock a few things.

Thanks for the info mate.

After sailing my 14' beach cat for four hours on the Lake from Coal Point this arvo I've changed my mind about thinking it might be boring. Had a great time today. Pretty keen to get some windsurfing gear now.

Cheers!
