G´day mates,

I am new in this area and I am looking for a good spot to go windsurfing. To begin with I would like to go on flat water if possible. Does anybody know a got spot?
I saw there is a big lake near Yamba. Is that possible to surf there?

I tried allready Ballina / Riverside but I had a bad windirection (W)

I am happy with every little tip.

As wineman said: Go to Yamba, turn left when you get into town towards the caravan park, turn right at the front of the caravan park, follow along (couple hundred metres) to first beach (Whiting beach). Rig on grass and sail out a few hundred metres to NW towards rockwall in middle of river.

I don't think the lake is sailable. Search the forum for Yamba - been asked before.

Works on a NE. What other directions guys?

Ballina rivermouth seems to funnel NE. I also sailed there a couple of years ago in strong southerly when the surf was wild and 2 foot waves were breaking near the bridge. It's pretty 'sharky' if that bothers you? Flat top (Skenner's head) also quite safe in NE, walk down access path from caravan park side.

Byron main beach can be sailed in W, NW and NE. Don't know much about any lakes that far north as the north coast area is better known for surfing.
