Maybe it is windier further South? I went out at North Cronulla one afternoon and got completely floored. Had to give up.
Most of the seabreezes I sailed in Botany Bay, my usual haunt, had 30 knot + gusts. I was sometimes seriously overpowered on a 5.4 (but the SuperFreak tends to handle those conditions better than anything else I've ever used). I'm still astounded by this coming from the Cold Toast where 25 is the max for a seabreeze, and 18 the norm, although they tend to be a super consistent breeze in comparison. My most used sail there by far was a 7.2. The few seabreezes I sailed in Sydney last year that were in the low 20's were gusty with holes everywhere, and kinda ****e overall. Actually the seabreezes here, in comparison, are very, very gusty.
I'm buying a ~4.7 for next season, and I've already shipped my 80l evo down and it used it a few times.
All-in-all I'm pretty impressed with the wind in Sydney.
