I'm heading to 1770 this weekend for a week, and i notice there was some talk some time ago that it might be worth sailing the channel in a NE. Should i take my windsurfing gear or leave it at home? I would love to hear from anyone who has sailed the channel and can recommend it. I will be at the camp grounds and would plan to set out from there.

Alistair,
Don't think you'll get lucky with NE this weekend to sail the channel at 1770 looking at forecast. I have sailed the open beach from the surfclub halfway between 1770 headland and Agnes. Nice shore break (big at times) although does tend to close out so be careful although it was great out the back.

Haven't sailed there but stayed in the camp grounds beside the water at 1770. I had a kayak which was great although the current really races through on both tides. Be careful!!!

Gods own country but be aware that there is stone fish that live in the channel straight out from the camping ground. Maybe Bustard Bay would be a better option for a windsurf. Also give Yak Attack a go for dinner if you like Thai. Just make sure that your there before 7.30 or else they will not cook you dinner. About the best Thai i have ever eaten. If you've got a 4wd make sure you go to Spring Beach as well it is magic
