All those strapping young blokes SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES so that we could have a holiday on Anzac day but does (s)he care? I don't think so. Just look at the forecast for the long week end.... bastard - proof that human sacrifice is dubious.

Hi Gestalt,

I hear Wello is the only place that works in a westerlie. What time are you going - is it effected by tide?

Cheers

Hi Daneli,

Westerly -

wello is the only place i windsurf in a westerly, it is by far the pick of the spots. is usually gusty but receives lots of wind.

at high tide the eastern side of the sand bank gets dead flat water. watch the feet on the shells though. last year the guys managed 40knots along the bank.

Sou-Westerlies -

i think beachmere or bongaree (bribie island) are the pick. however wello still works.

Nor-Westers -

Wello again is my preferred spot. excellent bump and jump at high tide.
North Kirra on the goldy is excellent too!

low tide at wello is bad. long walk and lots of mud. i normally try for mid tide incoming. trick is to sail out to the mid point of the bank and if you need to come back in leave your gear out on the bank and walk back. once high tide happens sailing back in is no probs and you will be launching and finishing on the sand beach at the carpark.

at high tide the bank is covered with water so don't leave your gear out there to long.

also winter sees the kiters largely dissappear at wello as the wind is too gusty and offshore. we have in the past rescued a few.

also, water is warm at wello in winter. nice!!!!!
