Does anyone know how or where you can get/do an accredited windsurfing coaching course?

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,

They have run some accredited instructor courses out of Royal Queensland yacht Club a couple of years ago I believe.

You could go there when they are running their next Team Windsurfing (TW) session which is on the 14th Jan (starts at 9.00 am) and ask the instructors / volunteers if they are planning any more in the future.

I know a couple of guys who may be keen to attend also.

Hope that's helpful.

We have four Senior Windsurf instructors at RQ now so can organise a windsurf instructors course anytime as long as there is enough demand, if we have half a dozen interested we could move to get a course going very soon.

Hi Steve.... You can count me in for numbers. I did an assistant instructors through AYF nearly 2 decades ago and still see a need for accredited instructors and l am in a better position now to use it.. They put through a large group back then and they may have records of the others also... It was Organised by the QLD Sailboard Club at the time.. Feel free to send me a seabreeze email if you wish to take it further.

Sent an email to Australian Sailing I will advise as soon as I get a reply

Other things to consider are the Australian Sailing Windsurf Instructors qualification require some additional qualifications before a certificate will be issued these include
A Blue Card
A Current First Aid Certificate
A YA Safety Boat Operators Certificate
Coaching Principle course (online & free)

PS my son wants to do the course as well so that would be another number

Thanks Cammd, I might have to wait for another time as just the cost of the YA Safety Boat Operators Certificate is above my current budget.

So is there anyone doing lessons nowadays. I mean one on one for adults.
I'm still trying to gybe but don't sail often so that doesn't help.
I originally purchased my gear and learned from Damo at Goodtime, but last time of spoke to him many years ago he'd stopped teaching.

Safety boat! really? I'm assuming if you require a certificate then you would be required to have a boat when coaching? Seems a bit rich, e.g. couldn't you just do wave sailing coaching next to the Life Savers clubhouse?

Really Really

Cost is $360 for the Windsurfer Instructors course, it usually held over a couple of weekends and one week night.

I will plan to get one going over winter PM me if your interested.

I'd be happy to potter around in the bay on the odd occasion in return for a lesson or two.
Maybe not the most ideal boat for rescues but a boat.

I will double check but completing the other requirements has been ok in the past however there is a time limit ie within 6 months of the course

I will find out a date for.the next safety boat course and post that as well.
