ecmwf (seabreeze) have it sitting further north than gfs with strong S winds kicking in on saturday and weakening through sunday

gfs (windguru) have it further south and kicking in saturday with mod SW winds.

my bets on ecmwf

whats good is that both models have it forming fri/sat so that is a very good sign.

I am, however not working on Friday afternoon or Saturday, so fingers are crossed.

So, if there is a bit of west in it, does that mean Wellington Point ?
I'd rather sail blue water. What about Bongaree ??
I'll probably do Currumbin or Kirra on Friday as that's close to work.

Will Kirra work in a SSW, does that mean the run is from Kirra toward Tugun and would that mean the wind would be slightly off shore?

It would be cross-offshore.

haha every week in the last 3 weeks the long range forecast has predicted wind then nothing, im not getting my hopes up for this one either already getting less and less again

That was my thought. Forecast seems to holding up further north though.

Anyone been to Lord Howe Is ? I'm thinking about booking a week in July.

what about the green island speed week? sweet spot and loads of wind around that time of year.

Looking like nothing from the "LOW" i am looking at Lord Howe but think it may be cold with the family and to be honest a little boring unless someone can tell me diffrent, Green Island sounds a better family option.

Vietnam is on my list of windsurfing places. one day....

Where would be the best beach to try and catch that low? i have a sister in burlie where are the best beaches for windsurfing near there?? i was thinking of flying down. cheers fellas..

I think the only thing that will be low this weekend will be the spirits of all the windsurfers marooned on land.

I'm told Nobby's Beach is good for sailing, but I've not tried it myself. It's on my list if I can catch a decent southerly to try it out. Currumbin further south is famous for promising much and delivering little, but it's a nice place. Kirra has nice banks and I'm certainly going to check it out if it blows.

Hi guys

I went to Lord Howe last year at the start of August for two weeks and had a great time.

I took all my own gear - JP 101 FSW and 77 Fanatic Freewave + 4.2m, 4.7m, 5.7m and 6.7m sails but if I do get there this year I would just hire gear - it's really good gear. Got over there last year via Macquaire Air. The 12 seater plane was turned into a 3 seater packed with windsurfing gear in the packed (floor to roof). Great adventure and perfect flying conditions. About $900 return with gear but not sure what prices are around this year for this option, could also consider the boat for gear.

Great flatwater blasting, bump and jump and waves in places. In the one run I could go from dead flat water into 1m swell and then into waves over a couple of kilometers. We had unseasonally light winds last year so only got 8 days of 10-30 knots, mainly 15-20 out of 13. Other days spent snorkeling, swimming and feeding fish at Ned's beach and relaxing. Great social nights/dinners.

For speed, bump and jump or freestyle it would be a great spot. Waves would also be good for the more adventurous around the reefs. I had a 3/2 wetsuit and was never cold after 6-8 hours on the water and I'm from central QLD.

BTW for the family - snorkeling, round island trips, feeding 1m kingfish in 0.3m water, lots of walks, get around the island on bicycles and quiet but social nights. (Last year there was a family with two kids and I think they had a pretty good time). Beach is great.

Hey ken, that doesn't sound too bad. I will have an abudance of free time late june/early july. Depends on how busy things are going with work. Will keep you updated anyway, but I probably won't really know until mid june.

When is green island speed thingy?

Don't know when the Speed Week is on, and I'm not fussed to go exactly then anyway.
I'm waiting to hear if I have a regular locum gig through winter, or if I'm working here with irregular locums, so I can't set a date until then anyway. How about we keep the idea open, and make a plan closer to the time when we both know what we are doing. Since the main clinic I worked at closed a few weeks ago, my work schedule is chaos and I plan to leave it that way until summer, so I should be able to get away for a week at fairly short notice.
