I just got back from The Queensland State Government's Mobile Town Hall Peoples Forum held at The Currumbin RSL this evening 1 August 2017, where Qld State Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced right from the start of the meeting, that her and her Qld State Cabinet have advised The Gold Coast City Council that they will not be supporting any Highrise Developments to the whole Gold Coast Main Beach Spit Area and that the Local Area Plan Law of a 3 Storey Height Limit for Development there will remain. Her reasons were that after much soul searching, many consultations that the Gold Coast Spit is an iconic an unique area (similar to places like Grand Central Park in the U.S.) not only of Australia but anywhere you can find in the world and must be preserved for future generations. Also to feasibly provide traffic solutions for the area would cost the Tax Payers to much and the remedies would have shocking visual and environmental impacts that would destroy the area forever if they were let proceed. No doubt this would all come at the complete distaste and dismay of Gold Coast City Mayor Tome Tate

She went onto say that this means the proposed ASF Mega Multi Storey Highrise Residential / Accommodation Towers / Fully Integrated Resort and Casino Development will not be approved by them or proceed for this area. Further more The Premier stated that they will quickly press ahead now with a Master Plan for the complete Spit Area based on their decision and will let all Queenslanders have their input into to the Master Plan as to how best they wish to see done with the area, now and into the future and have budget allocated $2M to get the ball rolling with the process.

It was further mentioned that her Government is pressing ahead and in very advanced stages with planning for the Major Cruise Ship Terminal for the Port of Brisbane and sort of mentioned that other Cruise Ship Business Case Studies underway would be a minnow in comparison to the Proposed Brisbane CST Port. So more or less Gold Coast City Council is completely wasting Millions of Dollars (as they do) of the Cities Money (which all citizens and rate payers of the Gold Coast should be completely irate about as this is taking away from so many other priority areas where the money could be better spent, than pissing it up against the wall) on building their Business Case for a CST on The Gold Coast Main Beach Spit.

So there, we have it, this is an outstanding win for the Environment, Gold Coast, Queensland and Australia
