keep the faith. the wind will return. i guess how much use you'll get out of your gear depends on it's volume, your weight and your daily commitments.

the trick with winter is timing. today there was plenty of wind but unless you can sit at the beach all day waiting your chances of getting it are slim. but it did blow early in the day.

sept - march the wind is much more reliable either lows blowing for 3-4 days or seabreezes. timing your trip to the beach when it's windy is easier to do.

I'm actually looking forward to getting the new board, it's a 112l Freestyle wave.
I'm coming off a 160l Funster, so no doubt i'll be shaky to start.

Bring on those windy days, but then again i'm a passionate boaty so we need some good days too.

It's always quiet in winter in SEQ, though this year was an unusually calm autumn as well, which has prolonged the pain. FNQ is very windy through winter.
A 112L FSW will be an easy transition for you. You won't be shaky for long.
The spring northerlies are not far away.
The great thing about windsurfing, is that the gear is cheap relative to things like yachting and power-boating, and not only does it cost you nothing to use, it costs nothing to not use, unlike stuff that needs regular upkeep, rego, insurance etc.
So don't worry if it takes a few years to wear stuff out. It's nearly indestructible too, with potentially decades of lifespan.
