Hello all, I have gained an interest in Sailboarding after seeing some on the TV last week. I am just starting out and need advice on the basics before starting out. Things I need to now are where are some good spots to go and see some boarding. What size board do I need and sails, I weigh 73k and am 171cm tall or short. What price shood I be looking at to setup. Anyway thats probably enough for now. Any comments would be thankful.

Hi Mick, welcome aboard, we are always keen to have new people getting into the sport.

My advice would be to find a location near where you live or intend to sail and befriend some of the sailors there. It is best to approach these people after their sail or they will be in a rush to get out on the water, so may not have the time to talk you through the options. Just ask the guys for advice on how to get set up and they will be sure to give you all the advice you need.

There is also a good post to read on lessons - it's headed "lessons". Re the benefits on getting some lessons early on. Ignore the political too and fro and just take to positives out of the discussion.
