Help!!

I'm moving from Perth to Brisbane and although I've only been in the sport for one full season, I really really want to keep windsurfing. Can anyone advise where to windsurf? if there are any clubs/ groups / associations I can join? where is a good place to purchase gear from?

You probably won't get the number of high wind days that you'd get in perth's summer during brisbane's summer, or the windsurfer-friendly type of waves the west coast has, but what you will get is some sailing all year round in warmer weather and warmer water.

the average commonly used sail size is somewhere between 5.8m to 7m

our winter and spring season has been un-characteristically wet this year (usually quite dry and generally very sunny) but this la-nina weather pattern might mean we end up with very few northerly winds and many more wet southerlies like we've just had over the last few days.

or just turn up at Wello, manly, "the train" or "the shearwater" and ask for some tips

Hi, theres great bay sailing at Redcliffe at spots like Queens beach and Suttons to name a few, you really need to be able to water start in these locations as its very choppy as soon as the wind gets over 10 knts. Theres Pelican Park around at Clontarf which is a bit more protected if your still building your core skills. Most of us sail at Queens beach, come down when its windy and check it out

welcome to brisvegas.

i run one of the local windsurfing clubs. it's a social club that meets up every month at different locations around south east queensland.

we keep everyone up to speed via seabreeze so hanging around the forums will let you know when the next get together is on. most likely about 3 weeks time.

the website haircut directed you to is our location guide, it should give you a lot of help in finding your way around. we don't update the meets section of the site anymore as we all hang out in here.

you are more than welcome to come along to our next meet and get a feel for what the club is about and meet everyone. i'm sure you will also run into the members on the water once you start exploring also. the club is a vehicle to get everyone together at different spots to make the most of the prevailing conditions. fun being the primary goal.

It could be even better if there will be Webcam at each or at least most popular spots and easy to setup - Train and Shearwater
So many houses looking at that place and just possibly matter of arragent with one local person.
