Without starting a debate or even a discussion, cause its a no brainer in my view, just that no politician has the balls to make the call for fear of upsetting the Minority of their electorate that control the Majority of the house!
Thats right in Qld the few people that live in the country have WAY more politcial muscle than the bulk that live in SE QLD, on a one person = one vote ratio this would have been sorted out long long ago!

Here is that official Qld E Petition, to change a law that was written in 1894! When 450,000 people lived in Qld.

If see breezes happend at 4.30am I wouldnt worry about changing it!,
Just a reminder,
Cows still give milk in Southern states,
Curtains do not fade faster in southern states,
Window tinting business are not disproportionatly bussier in southern states
Children do go to sleep in southern states
Farmers still farm by the 'sun' not by the clock in southern states
should I go on.....
Oh and yes many surveys have found that Qld's and their children are the most obese in Australia!, This is clearly evidence of the lack of sunlight exercise time after work, combined with the fact that Qld has MORE franchise fast food operations per head of population that anywhere in Australia, obviously adds up on the waste line....Still we could all get up at 4.30 am.....

If not I dont want to here about it, this is a totally one sided biased discussion that has heard every argument against, and never found any of them to be valid!Ohh and the if you dont like move to NSW/VIC argument is not an argument its an addmisison of defeat in the argument!...and the WA argument is different as the sun doesnt set there until around 7.30+ in summer, nice..8.30 would be luxury especially for windfsurfers, but 7.30 is still nice!

And you have to give the right argument:
in case of day light saving, you'll be able to sleep one more hour twice a day.
One because you're going backward in time and the other time because you "didn't know" the day light saving was that day

While in the past, as Brisbane Lord Mayor, Campbell Newman publically supported DLS, last April he pledged that he would not support the introduction of DLS to QLD, be it whole state or split. Indeed the LNP joined forces with QLD Labour to kill the private members bill that was put forward last year in support of another referendum.

I don't personally mind either way, but I really despise these politicians using DLS to wage a popularity contest with parts of the state that hold a lop sided balance of power.

So without a party that has a chance of governing this state supporting the idea, no number of petitions are going to make an ounce of difference. If there is one thing the leaders of this state have shown us, they have little regard for what the public want and would prefer to act in what they call the best interests of the state, which seems code for the likley position to assume if re-election is on the adgenda.

done, being a Tasmanian I remember going for a sail after work for a couple of hours 5-7 pm , I really miss that.

Do you mean that by the time Qld gets daylight saving, the tectonic plates will have shifted far enough that Qld will occupy the space on the earths crust currently held by Western Australia?

Or perhaps you are just relocating...?

Thank you for your email regarding Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving is a divisive issue in Queensland. Many people living in southeast Queensland support Daylight Saving, while the majority of people in other regions oppose it. This is reflected by the many different opinions of LNP elected members.

My team and I do not shy away from the hard issues which is why we believe there are greater priorities facing our state that need our urgent attention.

Issues like saving jobs and creating new ones, rebuilding confidence in our public health system, bringing our children up to standard when it comes to literacy and numeracy, and restoring our economy are our top priorities.

Bringing in Daylight Saving in Queensland will not solve the problems that affect people on a daily basis, such as access to decent healthcare and education. As such, we are not looking at implementing Daylight Saving at this time.

We will continue to assess this position as the issue arises. Thank you for taking the time to share your views with me.
