Yes we can include Techno Championship.

If the WODs are coming we'd better warn the Apollonian beverage manager.

State Championship is less than two weeks away.
Looks like we have a nice contingent of Techno Youth sailors coming this year.
Thanks to National Coach Max and RQYS team who have been doing great work in growing the youth participation.
WOD have not made it an official championship but are very welcome to join in.
See you at the lake on the 29th and 30th of April.

Not too late to make your plans to come to this years Raceboard Championships.
The club bar and clubhouse will be open on Saturday night.
There won't be any meals available to purchase but the BBQ will be on for anyone who wants to cook their own.
The Heron Association usually runs their toad races for a bit of entertainment and welcome participation from everyone.

A big thank you to Max W 'coach' and Tony Matta for giving max the opportunity to race in the BIC techno class at the race board champs

He had what is probably known as a growth day in wind surfing....

He climbed a steep learning curve-
DNF, DNS, DNF, Finished his last race after being prompted/coached to cross the finish line :-)

He received an award for youngest competitor - absolutely chuffed he was.

A big thank you to LCSC and RQYS for supporting windsurfing

Cheers Jeff

Great to see a strong youth Techno fleet and all the kids having fun at the QLD State Titles. If this is an indication of the future for windsurfing, it is looking bright

Hope to see another great turnout at RQYS Sail Brisbane in July and the other forthcoming regattas.

+1
Big thanks to Max, Cam and all at RQ for your coaching and support in the lead up and at this event. As a proud father of a first time competitor, was great to see big (but tired) smiles at the end of each day. Thanks also to Tony and LCSC, hope to be back next year as a father and son entry ;-)

BIC Techno report from Sailing Australia's Windsurfing Officier, Max Wojcik.

The past weekend saw fantastic racing for all ages at the 2017 Queensland Raceboard and Bic Techno Championship at Lake Cootharaba. The 11-15 knots of wind over the 29th and 30th of April saw fun, and at times challenging racing conditions for all competitors and provided exhilarating and competitive racing for all. For the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron's Green Fleet sailors, coached by Max Wojcik, this regatta provided a perfect introduction to racing. For most of these youth sailors, many of which learnt to windsurf through the Learn to Windsurf course, and Team Windsurfing run at RQ, this was their very first time racing. After two days of very close racing the results were finally in, with Jake Van Staveren winning the under 15 Techno division, and Hailey Lea coming first in both the overall Techno and 7.8 Raceboard division after performing extremely well in all seven races. Max Irvin also received the award for the youngest competitor at the Regatta after showing great sportsmanship in all his races.
The experience gained by all the youth sailors from this regatta will be extremely beneficial in preparing them for the upcoming Musto QLD Youth Week in July and Techno Nationals. A special thank you must go out to Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club, Tony Matta, the race officials, and everyone behind the scenes for organising such a fantastic and enjoyable regatta and to Max Wojcik for coaching and encouraging these next generation windsurfers.

Full results in post above....Great to see so many kids racing...Congrat's

Congratulations to Mark, Hailey Lea and Jake on your wins, well sailed.

So good to have a big youth fleet, I think this is the first time I have seen under 20's out number the adults since I started racing 6 years
