Following up from toesides comments in the formula thread the sailing sailing manager at rq suggested hosting a windsurfing event that sailed to a destination and back. His suggestion was overnight to tangalooma but it could easily be a single day event. Anyone interested to pursue this possibility.
I saw your in steve thought this might be better as a new thread

I'm keen. Raceboard or formula depending on conditions and destination. Daytrip preferred for me.

I'm intersted in some winter cruising to keep up my winter sailing fitness.

On another matter. Toeside sailed in the St Helena's Cup last year in the cat division on his raceboard. I think he won. Its held in October each year. The course goes from Manly to St Helena Island to Peel Island and return. As course racers (raceboard, rsx and formula) lets get a group together to participate in the 2014 event.

Who is interested.

I'm keen provided there's a few of us, and a rescue boat. That's a long race, and a gear failure in the middle of moreton bay isn't my idea of fun.

I chickened out last year because I was not fit enough. So I'll need to sail through the winter to keep up my sailing fitness. If we get enough participants and let RQYS know we are participating, hopefully they will have suitable rescue craft on hand. What do you think Cam?

I like the idea of sailing to a destination. It sounds like a good way to train

Could you make the course suitable for big 80-85 cm slalom board? I would be interested with 9.2 sail.

If RQ are willing to host, provide safety boats, get the msq across the line and not require competitors to be members then it's a goer, but in the past one of these would be a sticking point.

I'm interested to see where this thread goes.
I have always enjoyed north Stradbroke & Moreton Island and thought what a great sailing venue it could be.
Sailing with you guys is attractive to me, but I'd more than happy to volunteer a support vessel for the day if this gets off the ground.
Cheers
Dan.

A SE change is coming through on Friday. so next weekend looks good. Dunwich might be too far for the first foray, but I'm open to suggestions

Sounds like fun - and I do like a good pie too - might have to wait a year or so before I join in

Great idea would be good to do a day trip. Hope to be at the lake next Sunday.
