Hey all, I have a friend who's mum and dad have restored an old EK Holden Wagon, really nice car that's for sure. They were told by the previous original owner that he bought it to carry his wooden surf gear back when it was new. They are after an old wooden surfboard or windsurfer of the same era 1961/2. They want one to be able to relive what the original owner used it for.
The board doesn't have to be in the best condition as they are good at restoring things anyway. As long as it has a fin they will be happy. Any help would be great.

the guy that builds my boards might be able to help.

other than windsurfers he also builds mals/surfboards. has for about 40 years. he uses timber veneer over foam. they look vintage. he also has some old teak windsurf gear but i am not sure he will sell it. he may have some old surfboards hidden away somewhere also.

Thanks, I will try Peter at Caloundra Wind And Surf. Old mal looks alright too. I showed the a picture of a retro fish tail surfboard and they weren't interested in modern retro.

G'day Justin, been a while, hows it going. Loving Pete's boards now. He's establishing a good fixed range. My Viper 120Ltr is my favourite board ever. Going to try the new 150Ltr as soon as I recover from finding the rocks and oysters at Pebble Beach, (Ouch!!!). Been too many years, forgot where they where. Been four and a half weeks now. Not good for healing. Also, tried Pete's new 93Ltr Fish, Quad. Wow!!! Looked different. Wasn't expecting that! (not that I claim to know much about it).

G'day Lee. Going up to Lake Cootharabah Friday 15th, Feb, for the weekend, good crowd. Staying at Elander Pt, (hoping for S.E. Pattern by then). Hope the leg has healed. Cousin has also bought an International Canoe. Check it out on U-Tube. Lots of sail area for not much boat. Good family environment, and considering borrowing a rig to teach the Kid's. Have got everything you need (missus and newbie considered). Let me know if interested. Cheers Darren.

hi mate, all is good, hope the same for you and the fam,

sucks about the foot. what were you thinking!!! you know those waters better than most.

i'd love to try the quad. i have heard nothing but stellar reviews from people who have sailed it. i was originally going to get a 105lt quad and did lots of research with pete about fin setup early on but ended up getting one of his sups instead. the whole family loves it. its one of his designs for windsurfing but i got him to weak the dims for my ever growing girth.

i'm with you. my favourite board of all time is the voodoo i've got that he built. i love it. will never sell it.

Yea, not sure, are you trying to say that you where under-finned. I would really like to buy that board, but would love to try it with bigger fins. Pete didn't have a bigger set with him, but any spin out was very, very brief. Are we talking about the same board. The graphics are Aboriginal Art and it looks really cool to me, but I've never been accused of being cool. I thought wave board days where behind me, but this one really p1sse'd the missus off.

if your looking for brand new, custom made, a guy down here by the name of Grant Newby makes timber boards with a twist. Id love a custom sailboard made by him, i think it would be awesome.

If they did most of the car resto work themselves they may want to have a crack at making their own timber board.

Check out www.swaylocks.com for some detailed build up's.

I would hate to think how much a real circa early 60's board would be worth.

Hi deejay. I am moving up to Bundaberg soon and have a sailboard you can have IF I can fit it in the container (there probably wont be enough room) and pick up would be from Bundy. As aus301 said they could make one and swaylocks is a good site. Also look at www.grainsurf.com/forum .That site is dedicated to hollow wood boards.

Yeah I showed them some prices of old surfboards, which started about the $300+. There was an old custom 70's wooden windsurfer on Gumtree a while ago for about $150, would have been alright
