I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself but I've been looking at the monthly windrose on WillyWeather and realised that the Southerlies and South Easterlies I've been enjoying on the Richmond River at Ballina will change to Westerlies next month - May.
Are there any flatwater sites south of the Qld border or nearby that provide good sailing in a Westerly? My steamer suit is ready to go!
Thanks,
Greg.

I don't think there's any river spot in northern NSW that offers any consistency when coming mainly from the west - maybe a freaky once-in-5-year-day on the river in Balina

Gold Coast broadwater when all the stars align has offered a surprisingly good westerly blow, but usually it's WNW or NW

Sometimes Kings beach at Caloundra in a SW /W

Wello is about the only place that offers a due westerly (SW, W and NW) wind that's even remotely close to a summer blow - but you probably already know about that :)

I think South West Rocks, is doable from the goal in a westerly ?, maybe the locals can chime in, although a fair hike from the nsw / qld boarder. Being 60 min or so south of Coffs Harbour.

Sail from Ballina Sailing Club across into Mobbs bay and back at low to half tide is where we've always sailed in a westerly

If we are including Brisbane / Sunshine Coast... then Red Beach on the south side of Bribie Island, is good for a bump'n'jump blast - but you do need to get the tide-against-wind as the current is quite strong.

I have had some great days on the Richmond running from sailing club to wall.
If seen guys further up river or warp speed downwind runs near sand bank.
Super smoother water up there. Need to be good upwind sailor

Also the pass.
But every westerly I hit the Richmond river for a great time. Far more consistant than Sydney westerlys
