Well, the "finance manager" has given me approval to get a new boom. I'm after a fairly large one that'll suit my 6.5 & 7.5 sails, mostly for freeride purposes.

Any recommendations? I'd appreciate all the help! :)

Try the Loft 175-220 Ally about $180 delivered from Bud.

Good all round boom. Use for 5.8 -7.0

Dinh, I'm very happy with my Mauisails Alloy 180-230. Covers my 5.7 to 7.5. They also make a 200-250 if that is a better fit for your sails.

A bit more expensive than the Loft but it is very stiff (for alloy) and it has the special MauiSails boom head (as used on their carbon race booms) which has been getting a lot of good reviews.

Chat to Remi at The Windsurfing Shed for details.

cheers,

james

Second The Winemans recommendation.

I use Loft alloy 175-225 for my 6.5 & 7.5 sails. Good value.

Dinh mate get yourself a Naish mate. i've seen you casting envious glances at my new Naish alloy wave boom. picked it up for around $300 from windsurf n snow. very happy with it.

7.5? holy smoke you'll be going in 3 knots on that one with your lightweight physique and probably still hanging on in 30knots when I'm on my 4.5.

Thanks, gents!

Just had a quick chat with Remi and I'll have a look at a couple of booms on the weekend...can't wait!

Bas, yeah mate...you'll be the one giving the envious stares at my future carbon boom! hahaha [}:)]

Any tips on where I can source a Maui aluminium boom 200-250? I spoke with Remy and he doesn't stock it anymore and doesn't expect to have it in either.

Thanks.
