I'm having a nice little sail at Goolwa.

1st run back in I do a backside cutback on a little 2 footer, backwind the sail and a loud crack noise issues my (quite old) seemingly indestructible carbon fibre boom. After several rinse, tumble and spin cycles I make it back to the beach with a torn sail, busted mast bottom and my boom in 3 pieces. Interesting how the boom fails at the clamp end where all the load is transferred to the mast and how the mast snaps at the load point where the top mast insert ends.

Really glad I wasn't too far out...............
