Aquatic club, Rankine's or barrage end ?

Duh - I just re-read the title ...
I had a look on the weekend - it's pretty overgrown down there - needs a good slash/mow/trample (in the lake, too).

Cheers for the update - I haven't been down there for ages - will go to the spot near the Pine trees 1/2 k from the barrages - if its too overgrown may go the aqua cafe - just the barrage area is great for newbies to fall off and stand up - and walk their gear back to the beach.

May have to rethink if we can't get to the water

Hoping to see (meet/reacquaint) you down there ... perhaps finally back in the water !
So is everyone still using Dacron and teak (OK, it hasn't been quite that long). Looking forward to it though.

Wonder if it's worth seeing if Council would be happy to give this area a slash to see if we can get the grass back again ? Or will that just bring the PWCs back ?

would like to add that the area near the Pine Trees is a bit over grown in the Water, it might be OK in a South Easterly but there is "clumps" of weeds growing in the water for the first 60m or so.
Aquatic Club/Aquacafe end is fine to sail from but a bit deep in the middle for Kids, stepped off a few times today and it was chest deep on me, like it was Long time back !!
for Kids I'd head to the Pine Tree's end and put up with the weeds in the water.
cant' make it myself, working but will sail there Saturday !

With luck I will be down there to try out my new camera lens (500mm).

I took the kids down there for a look a month or so ago and it does look very overgrown in patches, but ok in others. I guess it's a bit hard to know where's good and where's not now it's underwater.
The Jetski place has been for sale for a long time, but the place was open and a couple of people were there with the Jetski's. No doubt they've been waiting for the water to return just like the rest of us, so I think you might see them back.
I was hoping they'd give up the place so I could lease it!

A quick note there is a few of us heading down with the families and big boards to goolwa sunday arvo if anyone else wants to hook up and sail with some other newbies - might be enough wind later to have a blast on some smaller gear ourselves.

I might give the Seacliff/Glenelg course a crack on my big gear.

Off to WA for 5 days next week, finger crossed I can get a couple of sails in.

Its starting to look good for a late one at the Mid on Sunday as well if its 20-30knt sse and 2+ft.

looking a bit windy down there for the wife and kids - already 20knts on the HI readings - not sure if we'll make it now - might delay a week - should be some options closer to home hopefully with waves later for some of us.

Russh. What you need to do: When there is a wave event, call a family/kids/beginner/demo day... and vice versa. By doing that, you will trick mother nature, and will be provided with perfect conditions.

I would be down there too, but I need to take my board to the doctors . No sailing for a week . Gutted.. how will be cope ?

Bloody great day at 'Good Old' Goolwa today, A few old faces showed up, Dave (Tonto) great to catch up again, can wait to see you and the fam soon! Also Chris and Evana and James, awesome effort from Semaphore!

I reckon everyone had a great time today, solid 18 knot SE winds all day with gusts around the 23 knot mark,

Plenty of beinginners in the water, one, Elsa (my Gym instructor - dont go making silly comments everyone, as Kym rigged the 2.5 mtr sail for her!!!!!!) under my tutaladge? I got her sailing for about 30 metres in 20 knot gusty Goolwa, we were both pretty happy about that!

Kym and I both sailed for about three hours each, great gybe practice and tack practice, even some nice ramps in the middle of the lake......

Summer is going to be awesome!!!!!!

Yeah, a good day - great way to kick-start my season, and great to see Goolwa back to its gusty best (even if artificially). Such a good feeling to be limping into work on a Monday morning, too.
Looking forward to next time - maybe tagging along for some tips on getting out on the mid coast somewhere!
