Looks like a strong northerly on Friday - is it possible to sail ocean beach at Strahan? What are the conditions likely to be? Appreciate any advice.

Haven't sailed there, but it can get pretty rough. Unsure of rips, dangers etc. Wouldn't necessarily want to go out there by myself, but have seen it looking pretty good on a number of occasions. A northerly should be pretty cross-shore. Someone else might be able to give better advice.
Trial Harbour would probably be better for waves, but again, can get pretty big!!

I'm going with the sentiment above. It can get pretty nasty on Ocean beach. Massive rips that you don't want to get stuck in. Depending on the swell conditions the waves can get upwards of mast and a half smashing onto the beach. Not comfortable.
Then again I haven't been out in a northly. If you are sailing alone I would be hesitant.

Thanks Guys for the advice. I see Cape Sorrell is dropping to 2-3m swell so I guess it may be manageable.

Definately worth a look if you're in that area.

Had a mate that used to sail there in a NE wind a few years back. He rated it pretty highly but I can't comment personally as I've never been there
