Well second day on the island, and it's unreal! swells up from yesterday and winds in from the SW. Im staying on greens beach and it looks good out there now.

Is there anyone keen to sail I this area? Lonely place. What would be the pick for sailing today? Looks about 30 knots and 4-5 foot out the front.

Back of Lighthouse maybe. The experts of the area, (Buzzy & Ant) would be the best ones to answer you there but they're probably busy out sailing down south here.
PS check out our spot guide that will help you decide www.thespotguide.com.au

G'Day DunkO, The local experts in the North are Geen Machine, Gclark and FS. look at Low Head weather observations for North Coast. It's showing 30 Knots Westerly at the moment. Bell Bouy will be going off. Go to George Town and take the Bell Bouy Beach road. Any local will point you in the right direction

Hey Dunk, I presume you're at Marrawah. Relic is referring to Greens beach on the North coast.
If Greens is 4-5 then that a go or BOL should be pumping. Either break can handle a bit of west wind. If greens has no shape on the reef then head to BOL.
Have fun, would have liked to be up there myself

Cheers guys,

Went to BOL, was good on the sets, buttery smooth barreling section. Unfortunately hit some kelp on the end section and stopped dead resulting in a broken mast.

At greens now, looks good for the arvo.

Fun place

Bell Buoy was great this morning but a challenge getting out with the high tide and fluky conditions inside but some very smooth faces close to the point. I think its the first time in a while that I have had the whole beach to myself. Bakers would have been better maybe .....and Greens on the west should be great.....enjoy.

Sorry Dunk....didn't realise you were at Marrawah. Also forgot to mention Buzzy is a Tassie Guru
Sorry to hear you got eaten at BOL. I'm keen to get back to Marrawah. Haven't sailed there since mid 80's
I don't think anyone had sailed BOL then.

Dunk great you got out at BOL that's a world class spot. Interesting you found the kelp Buzzy forgot to mention to keep your eye out, he manages to dodge it without a hiccup whereas I have on a number of cases hit it head on.........................still love it though

I think BOL has cost Ant about $5000 in gear so far Hasn't cost me a cent yet……..cause I'm too chicken to venture into that wave

Dunk check the Spot Guide link below it's got all the spots/conditions and how to get there. If Marrawah drops off there are some great spots on the north coast, Stanley (flat water) Greens and Bell Buoy (bump and jump)

Yeah that guide is really helpful, good work whoever was involved in putting it together.

In Hobart now for a couple of days. Thinking about relocating back to marrawah for Sunday and Mondays conditions? Then a bit of a trek in the mountains to finish of the trip.
