Check these threads when you can as we organise based on wind/waves etc a couple of days before, both north and south.

Also we've got some wave sailing in early Jan at Marrawah in the North west

wow! thanks for the warm welcome everyone Ill be in Tas Jan 8 - 15. will try and get to Marrawah for a day but as family will be in tow maynot be too flexible.

Thanks for the mention Ant, any riders welcome here in St Helens. Good flatwater in Georges Bay and always looking for company.

Purplehaze, Iceman will certainly show you the spots around St Helens, apart from a good spot to sail it's a beautiful area especially a few km's north at the Bay of Fires.
South you get to Shelly point which is the premier wave saling spot on the east coast on a north to noreasterly topped off with a cosy little spot for the kids (Iceman will tell you how to get there).
Further south Nikpryde and I sailed Bicheno in a norwesterly last summer. got there just as ben Severne was leaving and the locals all thought we were the ones cranking into the loops, we didn't let on.
Coles bay is great for flat water sailing, but it's worth the 20 minute drive to Friendly Beach for a few waves, or just to see the raw beauty of the place, kids will love it.
Off the topic of sailing do the walk over to Wine Glass Bay, not hard but nobody should be allowed to leave tassie without doing that

If you have you family in tow Stanley is a great little fising village to stay, caravan park, bed & breakfast cottages and the hotel, We've stayed there a few times when our kids were little. See if you can get over to Marrawah, apart from the sailing, if you like wild country you can't beat it.

Amen to that! Stanley would be my favourite town in Tassie, and I can recommend the Spa Cottage or Abbeys Cottage, both with the Nut out the back door. (I got married up on the Nut in the middle of winter - perfect sunny day with 0 wind). And the seafood restraunt down by the wharf is tops. And top fishing and windsurfing.
