G'day all Tassie windsurfers,

With the WT AGM to be held at Stanley on Sunday 9th March, the time has come to think about next season's Windsurfing Tasmania Committee Members.

Nominations are required for the position of President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Officer and Committee members.
All positions are up for nomination. Nominations will need someone to second them and nominees will need to accept their nomination.

Nominated persons do not have to be current members as long as they intend to join prior or on the date of the AGM. This is your chance to nominate someone new, yourself or an existing committee member. Being on the committee is not an onerous task, in fact it couldn't be easier, we have one meeting a year which is the AGM then the rest is done via email, so it's easy and it's fun.

Post your nominations on Seabreeze before the 5th March so they can be collated prior to the AGM.

This is a great chance for new people to get involved in the committee to continue to promote windsurfing. Windsurfing in Tassie continues to gain momentum with more sailors hitting the water every year so let's keep driving this enthusiasm. It's important to have an active committee to keep achieving the successes of the last few years, it's also gotta be fun because that's what gets new people out on the water.

Current 2014-15 Committee members are:

President - Anthony Houston
Secretary - Kaleb Smith
Treasurer - Dave Morehead
Public Officer - none
Race coordinator - none

Committee members:
Izaak Perkins
Damien Wallace
Jeremy Stuart
Ben Wilson
Jordon Murray
Paul Tenteye
Johhny Huett
James Brient
Geoff Cook
Dave Morehead

Hope haven't missed anyone off.

Now get out there and nominate, make a difference !!!!! ...........help make next season even more sensational than this

FOS is on the ball. I will be stepping down as secretary. I would like to continue to do the race results and organise the calendar of events etc. I think it is good to split the event organising and secretarial duties.

I support the creation of Event Coordinator and accept the nomination if people agree to create this position.

I would be happy to contribute to the running of windsurfing in the state, both as a youth representative and also a course racing representative. I know those aren't majority groups in the state, but we have a good group growing at the RYCT and I feel like if I was working along side WT we could use a similar format across the state and really invest in the next generation of little shredders.

Happy to stay on committee and assist with learner days.
Thats one for the AGM, I will be away but if someone could raise the need for Jet skis/powered boats at learner days that would be great. Even if we need to pay to hire vehicles/drivers with all of the cases in the world around "duty of care" I think all our future learner days should include powered rescue craft.

Secondly and equally as important - We now have insurance to attract members that do not race.. this increases membership and maybe one day we can buy our own Jet ski... but we haven't seen any real information on what can be claimed, when it can be claimed ie casual sailing, where is the paperwork, who do we contact to claim and excess etc. Can WT as a club contact the AWA for this information?

bit of work there.. I'm can provide suggestions but am pretty time poor... If someone else with more time to action things like the above would like my committee position I am happy to step aside... but if I'm the "best of whats left" then im IN

Would be great to see the committee minutes emailed out to all members to see what the plan is for 2015 and onward.

Thank you everyone the nominations are now closed.

The new committee for 2015 is:

President - Houston
Secretary - Gill Treasurer - Fos
Public officer - Fos
Race Coordinator - Kaleb
Committee members:
Jock
Paul
Ben
Dave M

I suggest the AGM be held after a BBQ at the Stanley Caravan Park Sunday night probably around 7pm depending on races/weather/sailing
Bring your own food and drink.

Good if everyone comes along to the meeting because there's plenty of drinking to be had and dancing lessons from Fitz and Perks.
