hey mate I have never tried to sail Rye or Blairgowrie but i thought the cliffs there are a bit steep and it would be pretty sheltered on the inside?

We sail Gunnas or st andrews a bit though and that works on a NW or SE. Have even sailed Gunnas on a Northerly but it super light but super clean.
lots of surfers though and a gnarly shorebreak
take a lot of masts and make sure you are a good swimmer...
pretty full on spot

Front beach is usually offshore, but rye is really good on a northerly if the wind comes through. Blairgowrie is too shallow unless you go out a fair way. The water is really flat at both Blairgowrie and rye In a SE if you can put up with the gusts its pretty good.

You should be looking for a somthing from NW to East. Its possible to sail on a S and SW, but is offshore and somewhat gusty. In particular, the northerlies we get in winter are good sailing at Rye.
