Saturday has been Red Lighted
Sunday is looking good with 15 - 20 kts SSW (Adrian tells me this is gold for Elwood) however we have a Triathlon on from 9 - 12.30 pm
You will not be able to get into the area during that time. Plan is to run the event from 1 pm to 5pm with races on around 2pm and 4 pm. Looking at trying to organise a BBQ with free sausages but BYO everything else and maybe extra meat if there are too many people and not enough sausages
Final confirmation Saturday after lunch

This is purely a suggestion......If you are not going to be using the Elwood yacht Club facilities you could consider running it at Hampton beach. No need to worry about the Triathlon BS and Meteye currently has more wind in the Hampton / Sandy / Beaumaris area than at Elwood

Hey Martin - great suggestion and normally I would have jumped at it however we were asked by Elwood Yacht Cub to showcase the concept of GPS Racing and hence I think we are tied to running out of the Yacht Club
I did pick up sausages for a free BBQ - if that helps

There is a possibility that you can access the carpark via Head Street prior to 12.00 but only if that gate is open...no guarantee.

I hope so! Looks like the wind is stronger towards the later part of the day, so it should accessible by then.

Sunday was a great day with big thanks to Adrian(ex RPS) from Elwood Sailing Club for opening up the Club's facilities at the end of the day with a free BBQ
Race 1
Wind was up around 12 - 14kts when everyone was setting up big gear. The race started with most on 8.5mtrs sails but within 10 minutes it notched up to 18 - 20 kts. resulting in a few retirements. There was a little confusion over the boundaries of the virtual racing box resulting in one windsurfer being virtually confused and sailing up to the channel markers about 1 km outside the box! Pete smartly set up 2 rigs and swapped mid race. Jman was on a 7.5mtr - great choice from local knowledge

Results
1st Jman - continuing on his form from Inverloch
2nd Pete Naz - improving and so close (200mtrs over the 30 minutes)
3rd Spotty

Race 2
The winds stabilised at 18kts so everyone rigged smaller. Wind dropped 20 minutes into the half hour race(Ha you have to love our sport) We wired Adrian up with a GPS and he blitzed them. Solid result. Pete again had two rigs set up and changed over but was tiring quickly.

Results
1st Adrian
2nd Jerry
3rd Martin
4th Naz
5th Spotty

BBQ was great afterwards with lots of banter, with time for a chat about setting up a Summer twilight or Sunday Afternoon series
To Morgs who rocked up with a GT11 that only wrote text files. With some help from Andrew Daff, I think we can set your GPS up next time to be able to put a result on the board

It was a great arvo for the race and thanks Doug for running it.

Hopefully we can build the numbers from here.

Had ball. Loved the format, not quite knowing where the virtual box was set made the tactics interesting. Looking forward to the next race.

Doug did a terrific job of running the event. I would encourage all those Bay blasters out there to get a GPS and join in. I am going to purchase one after my experience after I was kindly lent a GPS by Doug! The racing is fun, and the format far more flexible and less complex than setting up start lines and buoys etc. To those who have not done a GPS freerace event before, all we do is sail around on the water some minutes before the start, whilst keeping an eye out for a large green flag to go up. When we see it (visible for a couple of kms), we know the half hour has began, and we then sheet in a bit harder, and attack our gybes with the extra conviction that being in a slightly more competitive environment brings. Within each half hour, there are other categories to do well in, like trying to achieve a maximum peak speed on downwind run. When the red flag goes up, head back in and hand your units into the computer person, and within fifteen minutes we have a set of results. Inverloch Windsurfing Club puts on a number of events, and we at Elwood SC would be most happy to host them again. Membership of either club provides the insurance required to take part.
