Last night Windsurfing Victoria had a information session with Parks Victoria about the new boating zones around Port Philip Bay being implemented. WV and other windsurfing representatives presented to PV the current status of windsurfing and its latest growth in VIC. A number of proposals were tabled and they are currently with PV.

Once we receive feedback responses from PV, the feedback will be posted via the WV newsletter and this Seabreeze post. Overall the meeting last night was a success in bring WV and PV together for a common goal.

Agreed!
And thanks should go to Stephen/ WV for submitting a strong argument in support of our passion!

It was great to have our ideas listened to, and the overall impression I walked away with was that Parks aren't out to rain on our parade, and that there is a distinct possibility we may see some modifications to the existing regulations/ zones.

A big well done to Steve and his team. Steve has done a lot of work over the last 12 months that is now starting to pay dividends for all windsurfers. Parks Vic was very receptive to the issues and arguments that WV put on the table. Still along way to go yet but positive signs.

And to that trollop that sign wrote the back of my van - just wait, karma will get you.

It was really encouraging to see PV engaging in this dialogue from an informed perspective - there was a strong sense that PV wants to be fair and equitable to all water users. Credit to Stephen - the WV briefing paper was thorough and covered all of the core issues - particularly the growth of our sport in recent years. WV argued strongly on behalf of beginners and early intermediates - important for numpties like me who lack both rhythm and balance, although I've been told that enthusiasm is more important. I also got the sense that the PV representative was impressed with the windsurfing community's mature and inclusive approach to sharing space with kiteboarders - an important consideration given that we need to work with them to share enjoy the most favorable spots. Well done WV.
